Standard issue Leica nylon. :o

Yes, I think so, on the camera closest left

I just swapped out the nylon on my own for the nice cordoban leather strap from Tony Rose (Artisan and Artist)

Need to get a picture of it up here again soon

I received one complaint (?) (although it was more a query) about Monsieur Nobs pic but personally I find it tastful enough. It is neither clear whether the figure is male or female, or whether the camera is exactly what. That sort of mystery adds to an image IMHO. The lower right corner section of the image does not work for me, but otherwise an interesting image.

I don't get off on serious camera porn (or any porn) but am happy to leave it to those who enjoy. The only look of my cameras that is important to me is that that they remain relatively inconspicuous when I am using them. I guess I don't really fit into this thread so I'll just duck out again. :D

O.K. I said I was out of here but feel compelled to observe, upon reflection, that the camera in Monsieur Nobs pic, whatever it is, is a great improvement on the proverbial fig leaf. ;)

You know, I have a Fogg B-Laika, and it's not that old (three months perhaps), and I have recently noticed something that concerns me. The leather piece that clasps the top flap down onto the main bag has gotten very loose, and comes off so easily that I am concerned that if I grab the bag by the strap slightly unevenly, the top may inadvertently open and my body and/or lenses could come tumbling out. It's enough of an isse that I think I will be buying a different bag fairly soon. Although I love the quality of this bag, I feel that the design of the leather clasp is a weakpoint, and a potential hazard in the protection of my kit. Have you noticed any such issues with your Fogg bag or bags?

yes, i have the Fogg b-laika and it also exhibits what you've described above. I'm going to send a letter and photo of the said loosed strap back to Fogg in Paris and meticulous and friendly as they are, I'm sure they will offer a finite solution. It is a worrying issue since the bag is quite small already and with three lenses and an m-body, filters, film, etc can all make it bulge out to it's limits. I love this little bag however and I'm trying to figure out a way of getting a repair that doesn't necessitate me sending it all back to europe. I'm thinking a replacement leather lugged strap would solve the issue and for that i may have to pay. I will let you know..

Is here anyone who uses a Leicavit M or Leicavit MP on his/her MP?

In my opinion the Leicavit looks better on the regular MP than on the MP3.

Is it a useful extra?

What do you think about this combination?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Robert

well, I have an MP3 kit and used the leicavit only once.

I don't think it is made to make the camera look more beautiful or balanced.

In fact, it makes the camera heavier and you can no longer set it flat on the table,...

But most of al the film advance becomes much "grindier", even if you use the quick wind lever. This is because the leicavit attaches some more gears to the wind system.

Most important drawback: you cannot change your mind once you've loaded film.

I can imagine, however, that with some exercise you can rapidly grab frames at 2-3 per second. You also do not have to take your eyes from the viewfinder when winding with the leicavit. This can be a mayor plus when in a portrait session trying to catch a specific fleeting expression.

Robert I wouldn't worry about the looks too much. The Leicavit works well on both the MP and MP3 and I've never had a "grindier" experience like DriesI is having. These winders are particularly useful if you are shooting fast moving events like demonstrations, or if you are a left-eyed shooter. You should also check out the Rapidwinder product from Tom Abrahamsson. Both the Leicavit and Rapidwinder have their plusses and minuses, both are good at what they do.

I find my Leicavit super smooth. It does make the camera heavier, but I only had an issue with that when my BP summilux asph was affitted, but I now use my ZM planar if I need 50mm.

The Leicavit is a very useful thing. I use mine mostly when I am shooting a zone focused scene and there are thing happening or when I dont expect to need to change focus at least. It is the most useful accessory I have ever bought for a leica. even when you are not using it for raw speed it improves your ability to pan, shoot and wind and generally helps you keep the flow.

As for whether it looks better on a MP or MP-3, thats not really much of a consideration. I use it on both, when I need it. I will probably pick up another when I find one at the right price.
