What can I say - it's a kick ass camera and I feel I've come home.

Never been so happy. My newest addition (from yesterday) is a Elmar-M I bought on eBay. A fantastic lens with an unique fingerprint. Lovely. And a perfect addition to my MP.

Nice to see your MP One Pic and great that you are enjoying it. Didn't sell the M8 after all ? What's happened to the Hass ? :)

How would you describe the finger print of the little Elmar then ? (anyone ?) Always seems to get by-passed on the way to the Lux Asph, which i not you also stock.

Has the change of skin made a difference? I've noticed the many threads on the subject, but never considered changing. I would like a more classic leather feel, soft and warm to the touch.

Good thing I didn't get it to please you, Martin. ;)

I have an almost irrational dislike of chrome cameras but don't mind chrome lenses, strangely enough. Besides, this one was so cheap because of the two gouges on the hood that I couldn't pass it up just because it was chrome.

I don't like silver lenses on black bodys, sorry

Martin,

I dislike very much those black lenses that have the black finish worn through. Very unsightly.

Not only do the look poor, but their value is eroded as well as their surface.

Silver lenses are much preferred, (by me) regardless of body colour. My favourite is black paint by the way, followed by silver.

I'd also like silver coated aluminium lens casing.

So, I've been waiting a couple months, and my brand new a la carte MP and black paint Summilux 50 (pre-asph) have finally just arrived. The unfortunate thing is, only a few days ago, I broke my hand during a fall. My shooting hand, of course, is now in a cast with two long pins through the bones. Now I'll have to wait another month or so to load it with film and try. In the mean time, I'll keep it boxed up, and do my best to afford to be able to keep it. Bummer. ;)

Er, that break looks like a classic fist meets wall photo (?). Nice looking camera, I agree with the posters that say their camera goes everywhere with them. I took mine all over New Mexico when I took my dogs n a 7 month vacation in their shiny 25' dog house (an Airstream Travel Trailer). Yesterday I spent a few hours on the back of an Okada (a motorcycle taxi racing in the middle of caos) taking photos from the back of Lagos, Nigeria. We're all covered in dust, the bp MP and a 35 Lux.

OT, I asked my friends here if they get spam mail from Nigeria, they laughed and said they suffer that also :)

Hey Rolo. thanks for your comment. To answer your questions: I still have the M8. But I rarely use it. The Hassi I sold with a profit. I like the MP better.

RE the Elmar. Absolutely stunning. Wonderful bokeh, soft OOF, very harmonious, sharp, beautiful overall reendition, and really cool. The Tessar is a great design. I totally love the lens. I believe it is a must have. It is what Leica is all about, and a great addition to my 35 cron IV.

The skin has made a big difference. The camera feels much better now, and it also looks the way it should. The other skin is a joke.
