Guest Austerby Posted August 14, 2007 Share #261 Posted August 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've just got one - it's wonderful. I have an M3 and M7 as well and had an M6ttl in the past but the MP is now my favourite. It's a chrome one with a 0.58 viewfinder. I used it last weekend taking photos on a sailing trip in the Solent with my 35mm summicron. Really pleased with the results - I'm actually quite surprised how much more I like it from the outset than the others.

Guest lykoudos Posted August 22, 2007 Share #263 Posted August 22, 2007 Hello, I would like to join in so gladly into the praise song for the MP. I photograph with one “grey hammertone”. But chronic annoyance with the a reflection of the different frameworks in the image field does not let me come to the peace. The mask was replaced already several times, without being able to remedy the evil. Kind regards Wolfgang
bankcheck Posted August 28, 2007 Share #264 Posted August 28, 2007 I have been thinking, looking and trying to justify for an MP in the past few months. Really like the black paint as it ages with the owner. Finally pulled the trigger today and got my first brand new, black paint Leica camera (as my M5 and M6 were purchased used and were beat up in shape). Really a joy to hold, use and appreciate, can't wait to start using it tomorrow. A few shots were taken while it is still mint! Cheers, Dennis P.S. - Sorry for my poor English as I am a local Hong Kong boy. Welcome, dear visitor! herbet Posted August 28, 2007 Share #266 Posted August 28, 2007 this is one beautiful camera. what's that brass hood in your summilux?
bankcheck Posted August 29, 2007 Share #267 Posted August 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you Allan, yes it is really beautiful. Can't wait to use and see some brassing. The brass hood was done by the previous owner because it's hard to turn the aperture ring with the 12504 hood. The filter thread is now 46mm and I can attach another hood for easier ring manipulation. May be odd but it works.
bankcheck Posted September 8, 2007 Share #268 Posted September 8, 2007 Finished my first roll with my new MP, unfortunately did not rewind film completely and opened the bottom plate....... a few shots were gone. Lesson learnt and still love it. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! xjr Posted September 8, 2007 Share #269 Posted September 8, 2007 I just saw, for the first time, a Leica MP at my local shop. It is without a doubt, the best looking Leica I have seen in years. If I was in a position to buy a Leica, the MP would be my camera of choice. WHAT A CLASSIC!!!!!! Wait till you touch it ! Then you will buy it or steal it but you must have it ! abrewer Posted September 27, 2007 Author Share #276 Posted September 27, 2007 Magnificent Tom On ESPN they would dub it an "Instant Classic" Thanks for sharing Allan
Tom Johnston Posted September 27, 2007 Share #277 Posted September 27, 2007 Ah yes, the instant classic- I like that, and I figured someone would appreciate my set up. This looks like this is a very popular thread, with nearly 29,000 views. Is this figure correct? Wow! Tom
bscott Posted September 28, 2007 Share #278 Posted September 28, 2007 This is really creating a desire to own an MP but now I'm confused about the difference between the MP and the MP3. Are they both new cameras?
Tom Johnston Posted September 28, 2007 Share #279 Posted September 28, 2007 Both MP/MP3 are new or current offerings from Leica. As I understand it, the MP3 has a different set of frame lines, thus a less cluttered viewfinder. I'm not certain what is considered standard, off the shelf or out of the display case is these days. bscott Posted September 28, 2007 Share #280 Posted September 28, 2007 I can buy a new MP for 3495.00 plus tax the serial no. is 2890049. Is this an O.K. serial no. and is the price in line for the U.S.?
