Guest JMF Posted January 22, 2016 Share #3301 Posted January 22, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Black paint with .58 finder and some not so common black parts. Hi, what a nice MP ! Been wondering if there were any 0.58 MP3 ever built ? Can a MP3 be modified from a 0.72 version to a 0.58 or 0.85 ?!? Cheers JM

mole73 Posted January 23, 2016 Share #3302 Posted January 23, 2016 The change from 0.72 to 0.58 or 0.85 should be no problem. Contact the Leica Customer Care for further information. Robert

Robert Thanks, I shall now ask if a M3 0.91 RF could be fitted in a MP ? Not sure Leica would source the original parts , might have to scavenge a beaten up M3 if the transformation were feasible ! Kupo43 Posted January 28, 2016 Share #3304 Posted January 28, 2016 Black paint with .58 finder and some not so common black parts. Can you share your experience with the .58 finder? I wear glasses while I shoot and I plan on using a 35/50 combo for 95% of my shooting. Unfortunately I haven't had any luck finding a .58 finder to view myself so any feedback would be great!
LarsAC Posted January 28, 2016 Share #3305 Posted January 28, 2016 Anything below 50 is great with the .58 VF for me. Can't comment on glasses, but I either shoot 28/50 or 35 on a .58 and both are good travel options. Lars

Had one 0,58 M6TTL . I made myself believe that I needed a 0,58 for my < 50 lenses, because I wear glasses. It's just slightly harder to focus with the 50mm, so I sold it. Bought a 0,85 MP sold it and now back to my old 0.72. Works great for me even with glasses on.

I love the .58 finder, even for a 50mm lens. I don't wear glasses, but I imagine I might have to one of these days. Either way, .58 is my favorite finder magnification. I don't have any focussing issues with the .58. Edited January 29, 2016 by animalhairs
smkoush Posted January 29, 2016 Share #3309 Posted January 29, 2016 I very much like the 0.58 finder over the 0.72. I only use 28 & 50. It is fantastic with the 28 and (for me) and no more difficult using the 50 than a 0.72.

As a spectacle wearer, I ordered an MP ALC with the 0.58 vf so that I could see the 28mm framelines better than with my M7. The MP usually has my 35mm Summaron fitted and I can easily see the framelines without having to move my eye about. No problems focussing with a 50mm. Abram Posted February 18, 2016 Share #3312 Posted February 18, 2016 Leica MP by Abram Goglanian, on Flickr In 2004 I had my first experience with a Leica MP. I had never before seen or held one, but at that time I was beginning my education at the Brooks Institute of Photography. I found it to be instantly familiar to me and it felt "right" in my hands. I knew one day I would own one of these fine machines. I kept the brochure knowing it would be mine. Fast forward to Christmas of last year and my opportunity arose, I found one that was reasonably used but in perfect mechanical condition (aka: Exactly what I wanted so I don't mind using it even more!) and it was within my budget. I finally got the camera to go along with my brochure.

wattsy Posted February 19, 2016 Share #3314 Posted February 19, 2016 MP (or other film M) and 35 Summicron – such a fine combination.
honcho Posted February 19, 2016 Share #3315 Posted February 19, 2016 MP (or other film M) and 35 Summicron – such a fine combination. Yes, hand in glove. 35mm is not a focal length I use much other than on my MP, where probably 90% of the images I make with the MP are through the 35mm summicron asph. AgCl Posted February 23, 2016 Share #3316 Posted February 23, 2016 I wanted a MP for years - then some months ago I found this thread and looked through all 166 sites (reading all the funny stuff Leica enthusiasts say (including me ) but mainly for the gorgeous pictures). After that I could not longer resist,.. I sold my M3, T2 and burned all my camera savings to buy this beauty: Welcome, dear visitor! Ps: thanks to everyone who shared their MP/experience here- it helped me a lot going crazy (in the good way )
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! jonnymoondog Posted February 24, 2016 Share #3318 Posted February 24, 2016 New MP owner here! Fabulous camera. Does anyone here use reloadable cartridges in it? I'm aware that the metal ones don't fit, but I'm curious if there are any other options. individual rolls are awfully expensive nowadays and I'm looking to get the best bang for the buck. Are there ANY reusable cartridges that fit the new mp?
animalhairs Posted February 24, 2016 Share #3319 Posted February 24, 2016 The old Leica cartridges don't work, but the modern bulk load cartridges work just fine. http://www.freestylephoto.biz/183125-Arista-35mm-Metal-Reloadable-Cartridge-25-pack
jonnymoondog Posted February 24, 2016 Share #3320 Posted February 24, 2016 For instance. B&H has two brands of plastic reloadable cartridges. This is one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1148503&gclid=CObj-LzAkMsCFQsaHwoddBcHEA&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&A=details&Q=
