They are all beautiful!

I have really been enjoying the M3 + 50mm DR (actually added a goggled 35mm f/2.8 :) ) that I picked with help of the forum.

As a matter of fact, have a promotion coming up next year and just secured a nice promise from my better half for my own MP to celebrate :D ).

Will probably *take* a year to decide between black and chrome....

Ron,

how do you like the results from the Zeiss Biogon you have on your MP, I take it thats the 35mm?

Good catch, Tim. That is, indeed the 35mm. It is too new for me to give you an idea of the results. I've shot two rolls with it and they're both awaiting processing. I can tell you that it handles very well. Focusing and aperture detents are smooth and certain respectively. Without the hood the lens barely shows in the 35 framelines at infinity. With the hood there is more hidden. However, I expanded the cut out in the aluminum hood (with fine small flat and half round files) just a couple of millimeters and that's helped a bit. All in all, the lens handles as well or better than any Leica lens I've ever used. I'm excited to see the results in the negatives.

Welll....sold the older one for this. Think I've found a keeper....

I think I have too, might be getting the whole kit black w/ the LHSA 50 ASPH. Question though:

How easy is it to use the outer area of the MP 3 VF for use with a 28 Summicron w/ glasses? Does it really work or is it a struggle? I don't wear glasses...yet.

My, these vulcanite-covered MP's are great-looking.

I may have to consider sending mine back in for an overhaul...but then what would I do for a camera until it returns???

Woe! Woe!

WOE!!!

Thanks.

For Alan.

An M7 with Vulcanite is also not so bad. A perfect combination together with the MP.

Hi Vic,

Suppose you're acquainted with Ralph Gibsons Ex libris.

Different style, same subject.

And, the man also uses M's;-)

Your and others b&w work puts me to feeding my MP with some tri-X instaed of the every day Fuji trasparancies.

regards

hi frc.......

well ralph gbson is probably my fave photographer..... so there might be ver strong influences for sure.......

but no, it is not exactly aquinting the ex-libris.... the idea here is to play with the pardaoxity of "insight" - the psycho-physical antinomy ...... kind of....

The link does not seem to work anymore. Was it moved?

I briefly studied your webside. You make some stunning images! I feel you are a photographer who uses his heart more than his camera.

Your pages (under development) about techniques and materials seem very interesting to me. I read the page about film comparisons as that is actually something I am doing myself (there is such an incredible wealth of material out there, it is overwhelming. I think I will stick with astia and portra 400 VC, as those seem to work best for me)

I will check back often to follow the development of your website.

I do see a clear influence/inspiration from Ralph Gibson, who is my favourite photographer too (He also uses more his heart than his camera).

I am pleased to see that you also opted for the BLACK CHROME finish. While it has many detractors I believe it to be the most useful of the available finishes in that it is tough as nails and renders the camera nearly invisible under certain circumstances. Combined with the vulcanite cladding (which loses its shinyness over time) and the collapsable lens, your M7 is the antithisis of ostentation. Good thinking on your part for your choices and on the part of Leica for retaining these items from the era when the M was a no-nonsense tool.

Yours,

Robert Morrison, M4-P etc. (you know, the other MP)

Here's an updated look at my MP, now three and a half years into service in my hands. She's been seeing a lot of duty recently with the 35mmf2ASPH so she elected to have her picture taken with that remarkably versatile lens.

Thanks.
