ramarren Posted December 16, 2016 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2016 The download stalled twice, reading "1 hour, 20 minutes" to complete the download, when I jumped to the link from the announcement email. When I logged into the owner's area, it downloaded in four minutes.
steppenw0lf Posted December 16, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2016 Does it already contain fixes to improve the AF speed of the Summilux-SL 50 ? Or will there be an additional release in January ?

pop Posted December 16, 2016 Share #6 Posted December 16, 2016 Mine took a couple of minutes but would not open. Tried twice same result, never happened before. You don't open the downloaded file. You move it to the SD card of your camera. Please refer to the instruction sheet.
scott kirkpatrick Posted December 16, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 16, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I downloaded from the link in the email on Dec 13. Had no problems. So this issue (Godfrey's problems downloading, not confusion of the .upd file with a zipped file that needs to be opened first) is new. scott

ramarren Posted December 16, 2016 Share #9 Posted December 16, 2016 I downloaded from the link in the email on Dec 13. Had no problems. So this issue (Godfrey's problems downloading, not confusion of the .upd file with a zipped file that needs to be opened first) is new. It's most likely just a transient network glitch from my network service provider. I wouldn't consider it an "issue" unless several people, accessing the site from different service providers, experience it. :-)
Guest VVJ Posted December 16, 2016 Share #10 Posted December 16, 2016 I had to download twice... With the first download after turning on the camera an error message was displayed. I downloaded again, same file size and then it worked perfectly... no idea what went wrong the first time...

appleman Posted December 20, 2016 Author Share #12 Posted December 20, 2016 It's just that when I download the 2.2 firmware to my computer, then transfer it to my SD card then putting it in the camera it says that 2.2 is already downloaded but the camera info says 2.1. Odd.
ramarren Posted December 20, 2016 Share #13 Posted December 20, 2016 It's just that when I download the 2.2 firmware to my computer, then transfer it to my SD card then putting it in the camera it says that 2.2 is already downloaded but the camera info says 2.1. Odd. Did you : Go to MENU / SETUP / Camera Information / Firmware Press “Start Update” and confirm to start the process ? Just having it on the SD card doesn't auto-install. When you go to information after inserting the SD card, the version installed should be 2.1. After you do the update and then restart the camera, it should tell you v2.2 is installed. Remember: After the installation is complete, power the camera off, then on again without removing the SD card. After the camera is restarted and the red activity light goes out, you can power it off, put the SD card back into your card reader, and delete the firmware update file. Per P. Posted December 20, 2016 Share #15 Posted December 20, 2016 In my case the install was straightforward but I had to reload my user profiles manually from the "Load profile" sub-menu. This worked fine, the process step just was not clear to me.
appleman Posted December 20, 2016 Author Share #16 Posted December 20, 2016 That's funny caus I was asked if I wanted to keep my profiles, a straight yes or no, I chose no caus I don't have any.

Profiles are a simple way to save your settings. I can't imagine using the SL without doing so as the user interface is almost entirely built around customization of buttons and features. meerec Posted December 20, 2016 Share #18 Posted December 20, 2016 Profiles are a simple way to save your settings. I can't imagine using the SL without doing so as the user interface is almost entirely built around customization of buttons and features. I can easily imagine it. Because I don't use profiles. I set up my SL the way I liked it one year ago and haven't had a need to A/ change it B/ switch between setups. But of course I admit everyone will be different in this respect. scott kirkpatrick Posted December 20, 2016 Share #19 Posted December 20, 2016 For use in manual focus mode, I have only slightly departed from the way the camera came to me. (I put the R lens profiles on a button, but actually don't need them now.) But I just snagged a second SL and the 24-90 in the online souk for less than the price of the body alone, so now I'll have to set up an autofocus profile as well. My intention was to use one for M lenses and one for R, but temptation got the better of me... scott
LD_50 Posted December 21, 2016 Share #20 Posted December 21, 2016 I can easily imagine it. Because I don't use profiles. I set up my SL the way I liked it one year ago and haven't had a need to A/ change it B/ switch between setups. But of course I admit everyone will be different in this respect. The point was not to switch between them, though that's a nice feature. It was having the ability to reload settings after a FW update. It sounds as if the new FW updates are not requiring this if you are not saving settings to begin with and are still not losing them.
