They do have a clean room, have had since before 2010 (and, I suppose, transferred it from Solms to Wetzlar), but I doubt whether it is used for camera assembly, given that the Leica "assembly line" system consists of carrying a box of half-finished cameras from one desk to another.

That cannot have been just dust removal.

Anyway, all fixed lens cameras can get sensor dust. Leica is not unique in that respect.

Thats true! The Answer dose not help me with my problem. But there are also cameras WITHOUT this problem. If i buy a high price quality product I expect above average performance.

I have been in Wetzlar and they told me two things

  1. they have a design sealing problem with Q and solved it with the Q2
  2. they did not planed sensor cleaning during engineering process

That makes it so expensive (450€ in Wetzlar).

Currently experiencing this with my Leica Q. I've noticed spots around the corners when shooting at F8. Nothing major but still. I went to Leica Store in London, dropped the camera this morning for an assess .hey just got back to me with a £200 quote to clean the sensor - a pretty heavy bill for a sensor cleaning!
Did anybody tried any third party company to get it cleaned?

I will have to check if Leica has some sort of warranty on the cleaning or something - cant be cleaning those sensors too often at these prices!

Ricoh GRIII while much smaller and cheaper has internal sensor cleaning mechanism. It’s quite a shame Leica did not implement that after 3 iterations of the Q!

Just a quick report for my dust on sensor on Leica Q.

Leica Mayfair did carry my sensor cleaning (£200), it took like 4 days so quite quick. Leatherette's been replaced (corners doesn't seems too well glued so we shall see how long it last) they told me it comes with a 2 year warranty so if dust creep again (which probably will) it's covered for a while.
