Forgot to say that having closely examined and handled the Zeiss 35/1.4 and the M 35 summicron and summilux in the past week, physical observations:

- I don't like how the aperture ring always seem sloppy/loose on the Ms

- Zeiss aperture rings are taught and nice and clicky

Hi guys, been too busy with work to choose my 35mm lens!! But need to get a move on to get it in time for Christmas!!

I think I have decided against a summicron or lux. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a second lens, the 24-90 will be my main lens.

Instead am looking at Zeiss: the 35/1.4 or maybe the f2.

I have never looked at or handled Voigtlander and would appreciate any comments re the 35mm f1.2 norton II?

Thanks.

Hi!

My gear is SL 601 & SL 24-90 ASPH. I also concern to find the second lens, then finally to get M Apo 50 f2. I am very happy with this decision, except this len is quite expensive!

Have a nice day!

Thanks!

As someone earlier said, there are hundreds of choices.

Canon 40mm pancake (currently on mine) and AF.

Olympus OM 35mm.

Canon FD 35mm.

Voigtländer have a few.

Zeiss ZF2 35mm

Pentax 35 or 43

Why do you need to limit yourself to one? Goals! Start a collection and ask which one should be your first!

Too many lenses to choose from for the SL! Zeiss distagon 35/1.4 and the Voigtlander 35/1.2 nokton ii might be too large and heavy for an M, but sit well on the SL. Trying to choose between them or a second hand summicron. I think the Zeiss size works better on an SL than the smaller M lens. Any users with comments pls? Thanks.

Hi.. my suggestion is for an Elmarit R 35mm , second or third version. I own it and the IQ is very close to that obtained from the 24-90 zoom and even close to the quality , very leica, of the summicron 35mm r first version that I own too. So , the elmarit 35mm I belive is a very good balance between  quality, price, usability with leica sl and size.  If size is not a problem ... summicron  R 35mm first version !
