I don't work for Photo Village, but I was just there this morning and they had just received 50 Oskar's Day Bags. I have the GCAM 7200 (can' remember the number) that was being sold in lieu of the Oskar. The Oskar is a bit larger and has a much better shoulder strap. I think it may be able two carry two more lenses than the GCAM, though they must be stacked.

If you have the GCAM I wouldn't buy the Oskar without looking. They're pretty close. I ended up buying one and now have both. Camera bags will be the death of me.

For those who have used these bags, which one is best for 2 m-bodies, each with a lens attached + 2 extra lenses (4 lenses total)? A little extra room for flash, caps, etc., also would be helpful.

Thanks,

BILL

That sounds a little much for the 7100, and the 7200 is even smaller. I would opt for the GCAM-7000 in that case, the "Sabastio's Reporter Satchel":

If Photo Village don't have it in stock, you could order it from this website with the following form:

canvas lid:

ACAM-7000

leather lid:

GCAM-7000

order/question form:

I'd go with a bigger bag. If you want to do A&A, maybe the ImageSmith?

I have this bag w/ leather flap - beautiful but no way will you fit two bodies and 4 lenses. One body with 3-4 lenses or two bodies with two lenses is about right. I would step up to one of the Billinghams if you need to carry more than that.

Osker One day you can get a M8 with a medium size lens and two more lenses in it. If you want to stack than you can go 5 . this is my street bag. all week i carried One body 6 total lenses inside and than one extra body with lens on my shoulder . Never get tired of carrying this around.

Cindy, your bag must look like a balloon filled like that! Care to post a picture?

I regularly carry the M8, WATE, 28/2, 35/2, 50/1.4 and 90/4 Macro, as well as a Leica Tabletop Tripod in my Oskar, and the bag doesn't bulge and everything fits well. It would easily carry an extra body instead of two lenses, but if that body had a lens on it, I can't see how to fit it, unless you use a very small lens on each camera, hence my recommendation to step up to the Sebastio.

Charles, you don't seem to carry any more in your Sebastio than I fit in my Oskar. How do you pack it?

Obviously not tight enough! I guess my preference is too have a bit of a roomier bag. That way what you need is more accessible and the equipment less prone to damage. And less wear and tear on the body!

I wish somebody would come out with a camera bag with one of those cool bike messenger straps that you can cinch up quickly. The padded area on camera bag straps always seem to be in the wrong place or not long enough. For all day carrys I prefer the bag more up my back vs my side. My shoulders can't take it otherwise. Backpacks are fine for getting to the shoot and back but useless for street style shooting.

I don't like to stuff my bag either, but here is what fits into my Oskar without any squeezing of anything. First of all, the bag from side, full. My M6 is as usual the faithful stand-in for the M8, this time with the lens which actually might be on the M8, rather than its typical 50 DR Cron.

The second picture shows the bag from the top. On the left you see the Leica Tabletop Tripod between bag and lining. On the right is my Moleskine notebook. You don't see the passport which is between the lining and bag at the front. In the left padded hole, is my 50 Lux Asph face down, and the 90 Macro on top, face up. In the middle camera with 28 Cron. On the right WATE face down and 35 Cron Asph on top, face up, with an older style Leica lens cap which I prefer due to its lack of the edge of the standard cap, which in my experience tends to catch on things and fall off. In the left front pocket is my cellphone, wallet and a pen. In the right front pocket is my 1.25x loupe, extra battery, and my Macro Adapter in a soft bag. In the thin zippered pocket on the inside of the lid (missing on older bags) is a lens pen for quick removal of dust, a 2mm Allen key, an extra cartridge for my pen (a TomBow rollerball, btw, the best rollerball I have been able to find, and I have really looked), and some keys. In the lid pocket are a bag of Kleenexes, Leica Lens Cloth (also known as the holy Leica lens healer), small Berlin map and a WhiBal.

I sometimes swap the 90 Macro for the 75 Lux, or leave two lenses at home to fit some other item in the bag. Sometimes I put my iPod 60GB in the lid, with its earphones. Sometimes I replace a small lens with the WATE viewfinder. It is pretty flexible. With short lenses on, I might be able to carry 2 cameras with lenses and 2 extra lenses, instead of 1 camera with lens, and 4 extra lenses.

Cindy, how do you orient your cameras in the bag?

No lens hoods for the 28, 35 & 50?. Tut, tut:p. AND not only will the thief run away with your cameras & lenses but he(or she, lets not be sexist here)gets your wallet, mobile and passport where did you say you hang out?. LOL

Only joking Carsten, looks understated & must preform well if you like it.:)

Yeah, I have fears that someone will nab the bag, but I never set it down and leave it anywhere, unless there is someone to watch over it. Even when I am sitting in a café, I will bring it to the washroom. It'll have to be a robber, but this is Berlin. Were I travelling, I would carry the items differently.

The 50 Lux Asph has a built-in hood. Really, Eoin :) The 28 hood is huge, and the lens has a recessed, concave front element anyway. Ditto the 35 hood. Neither lens flares much. I use my hand in emergencies, or just accept a little flare. It can look quite nice sometimes, although to be honest, I almost never see any. In the worst case, there might be a little veiling flare, but since I shoot DNG, this is not a big deal. I will probably eventually pick up a 35 Lux Asph hood for the 28 Cron, and the 50 Elmarit hood for the 35 Cron Asph. They are both smaller, and are fine on the M8.

Duh! slaps his head in disgust. So true, shame on me!:o.

I didn't know the 35 Lux Asph hood fitted the 28 Cron Asph, I'll have to go check that one out as the cron fills quite a bit more of the VF. Thanks for the tip;)

Hi Carsten,

I put my bodies in with the lens toward the center.. oriented like yours. They are both in neoprene cases, so they slide in pretty easy.

Speaking of losing your bag, I have a khaki Domke f2 that I have put through the washer/dryer 2x. I left it on a bench in the Pheonix zoo with Leica, zeiss and Canon lenses in it. I had a credit card, cash, driver's license, etc. in the bag. I had my M8 around my neck and 5D (with a big zoom) on the tripod. I put it down to change lenses and got distracted. We walked away and I didn't realize it was gone for about 15 minutes. I went back to the bench and it was gone from the bench. Long story short, I got it back. It looks so pathetic, that someone turned it right in. I know I am very lucky, but I think the looks of the bag helped.:o
