So have "bitten the bullet", and going full frame... . I think Dee has tipped me over. After some years of expounding the virtues of my beloved M8's, I've ordered a new silver M240 M-P with viewfinder and spare battery. However neither of my M8's are for sale....ever?(?). Or my M6 or IIIc (f conv)... Next down the gurgle-hole with even more lens lusting. I really doubt it will improve my average photography...but maybe?? Tomorrow first thing, I pick it up from Photoco in the Adelaide Market...yahoo! a brand new camera. And just not any camera. cheers ... Oh wow!! Dave, you have really made my day!! I'm so happy for you, and I'm certain you won't have a moments regret over your decision. As for improving your photography...it will of course have that effect, you will be motivated to shoot more, and with renewed enthusiasm and creativity. Well done! If one is trying to maximize what they will get out of it by procrastinating doing something they really want to do, they lose. Nothing is accomplished by putting off what you can do today. That is exactly what my accountant was saying. Surprisingly radical stuff coming from a member the most conservative of professions. I suspect he was having a funny day himself... nevertheless it sounded good to me and it has obviously stuck a chord with Dave....ripple effect. Bought my M-E from them in 2013 along with multiple other stuff over the years. They had the M262 kit with the 50 Summarit, flash, shoulder bag etc. for just over $A8000 a few weeks ago. Very tempted but alas, I could only look through the window. Took my M-E back there early last year to get an opinion on what to do about a cracked sensor. "Leave it with us". They sent it off to Camera Clinic for replacement and all I had to do was pick it up a few weeks later....Good people as you probably well know. Still charging batteries...they take a long time; big mothers aren't they? Have taken a few pics. Nice quiet shutter...LOL . I notice the extra 90 grams or so..it feels heavier. The viewfinder is absolutely filled with my 35mm lens...so I suppose wide angle will not be useable to compose with the rangefinder window...will have to use the EVF-2. But I haven't worked through the instructions yet. It's pretty intuitive but there are some big difference to the M8 I know so well. All in all, very happy. The silver is a matt chrome and marks easily with finger grease...but I'll get over that and won't be polishing and preening. I'll look at some images on the computer soon...I have Lightroom 5.7 loaded, but may go to Lightroom 6 sometime as it's a free copy with the camera. Herr Barnack Posted October 31, 2016 Share #49 Posted October 31, 2016 Hi guys, a bit of help please if anyone has a few moments....(I am from the UK) Bit of background, I am not a professional, but I take a variety of photographs and have different tools for each: Timelapse/Landscape/Extreme Macro => Nikon D810 Everything else => Leica Q, iphone etc Now after shooting quite continously with the Q and taking it with me on many trips, Ive realized that having analysed the photos in Lightroom, I am cropping at least 80% of the time!! I guess the 28mm is not quite the kind of photos I want to take. Bear in mind, this is my 1st ever leica experience. Recently I rented a Leica M 262 + Summilux 50/1.4 for a couple to days to see if I can get used to the RF way and man i didnt have to crop anything and I just loved the output! So here is my issue: In the UK, apparently there is a price increase or "adjustment" on the 1st of November for all leica products.... 1) Buy the M + Summilux before price increase. 2) Buy the Summilux before the price increase and WAIT to see if Leica announces anything (like a new M) in November at their event, at which point make a decision then. 3) Buy neither and just wait. 4) Forget the M and stick with the Q. Bear in mind i will still keep the Q as its a nice nifty camera with super fast auto focus and it works in that way. The RF way works for me, but if a New M is released with EVF and fast auto-focus, and perhaps a lighter body, that would be a "nice to have" too but i suppose noone knows. Thank you so much. Little known fact - the lens on the Q is actually a zoom lens so there is no need to crop. Two steps backward and it becomes an 18mm; four steps forward and it becomes a 50mm. Picked up a new M-P240 last month as well for a pretty good price seeing as there was a Leica promotion going on (ended on the 31st October 2016). (Personally, I would have preferred to shoot through window using 1000mm lens from half way across the city. The reason? More windows => more decisive moments.)
