Shutter speed dial gives a speed half a stop off (M240)

I knew it would be too good to last

I bought my M240 18 months ago. Looks like it has to go back to Wetzlar for a problem to be fixed.

When setting the speed dial to 1/30, the shutter speed on LV shows 1/45. All speeds similarly show a half stop increase.

Anyone else suffer from this? I know that I can correct it myself, but getting the shuter speed correct is pretty Billy Basic stuff.

My wife says "Why didn't you buy another Nikon? Your D700 has never been back, but all your Leica's have had a problem"

She's right.

Leica has had its share of QC issues.

Apparently, Nikon, too...   http://www.shutterbug.com/content/nikon’s-quality-control-problem#SkQvRLwHHDGjPJHr.97

The grass is often greener....

I care not only about good QC, but how a company addresses the issue, especially if it affects many users.  This seems like a one-off problem (I don't recall similar complaints....but maybe I missed it), but the recent issues with AF motors on S lenses is another story, where proactive communications have been sorely lacking.  It seems Leica has the message, but I've yet to see the results.

Just make sure you don't send your Leica to Stuttgart and your M-B to Wetzlar :o
