FlashGordonPhotography Posted October 26, 2016 Share #41 Posted October 26, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought the idea of buying a camera was to take photographs, especially expensive ones. I would never buy a Ferrari and never drive it, wouldn't you? All this stuff is getting embarassing...Hasselblad, which has the same right to be in the hall of fame with Leica, came up with the groundbreaking X1D and then offered as a limited edition the black version, that would have more sense than this abortion But people do buy Ferraris to just have them. I know people who buy stamps and never lick them. They're called collectors, I believe. While I am not a collector, I don't see the problem with having people around who are. Collecting doesn't hurt anybody and seems to be a perfectly valid hobby, just like photography. Cameras aren't seeing feeling beings. It's just a bunch of plastic and metal. I don't feel sorry for one if it's not used. I feel Leica are running the special editions to a completely different market to us. I'm confident they assume most of them wont get used. Selling to collectors is another income stream for Leica. If that keeps the company healthy enough to make more cool toys for me to play with I'm all for it.
