Purchasing a Leica D-Lux

The LX 100 and D-lux 109 both have a slightly smaller than standard M4/3 sensor - or use only 9?% of what might be a M4/3 sensor … so by utilising the whole of a M4/3 sensor there might be a possibility of a similar sized camera (LX 200?) with a slightly bigger sensor area. But I'm just speculating.

The LX100/109 sensor is a fraction smaller than standard, 17.3 x 13mm as opposed to 18 x 13.5mm. Neither does it use the full sensor, but what it does do is use a different area for each aspect ratio offered, rather than just cropping a full size image as most cameras do. There is a graphic on this page that explains: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-lx100
