I've somehow managed to completely mess it up as I now have several pieces in my hands. I only unscrewed the bayonet (as I have done a couple of times without a problem on this lens, and many times on other lenses), but the casing came undone. I did not open up the optical block, and there are no parts left over. Â I'm going to drop it off with Will later this week for him to sort out. Otherwise it's a trip to Solms and that's fine. Â No way I'd do anything more than clean the front element of a lens with a Zeiss pre-moistened cleaning pad. Anything else, off to a specialist it goes.
