So. I decided to clean off some grime and took the bayonet off my Lux 75.

I've somehow managed to completely mess it up as I now have several pieces in my hands.

Apart from sending it to Will van Manen, would anyone have any tips/instructions for me to put it back together please?

Thanks

Rare(ish) out of production lens: check

Prices steadily increasing on the used market: check

Precise focus adjustment required: check

Open it up to clean out some gunk at home: why not?

Parts left over: whoops!

Sorry I can offer no actual help :)

Thanks for that Michaelwj.

I was not intending to "open it up", nor did I. I only unscrewed the bayonet (as I have done a couple of times without a problem on this lens, and many times on other lenses), but the casing came undone. I did not open up the optical block, and there are no parts left over.

I'm going to drop it off with Will later this week for him to sort out. Otherwise it's a trip to Solms and that's fine. Lesson learnt.

You are braver than me. I've just gotten comfortable wet cleaning my M262's sensor.

No way I'd do anything more than clean the front element of a lens with a Zeiss pre-moistened cleaning pad. Anything else, off to a specialist it goes.

Taking pictures would only further prove I'm an idiot... haha

In all seriousness, I sent it away, Will has fixed it already and all is well. Its cost me a little, but that's the idiot tax.

Think of it not as an idiot tax but a fee for education.
