Michael Geschlecht Posted August 11, 2016 Share #63  Posted August 11, 2016 Hello Everybody,  In the USofA there has been a coin in circulation for a very long time that is made of 75% copper* & 25% nickel. It is a 5 cent coin called a "nickel".  Best Regards,  Michael  * A toxic metal when ingested in too large of amounts.

jdlaing Posted August 11, 2016 Share #65 Â Posted August 11, 2016 Anodized? Plated. Perhaps they should carry a public health warning not to suck them? That would be left up to parenting.

easy_action Posted August 12, 2016 Share #68 Â Posted August 12, 2016 Interesting that the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M Asph (1994-2010) chrome plated version was based on a brass body, but Leica chose to base the FLE chrome version on the same aluminium body as the anodysed black one. Michael Geschlecht Posted August 12, 2016 Share #69  Posted August 12, 2016 Hello Easy_Action,  Welcome to the Forum.  The decision as to whether to use brass or aluminium in a certain spot might have more to do with the fact that Leitz/Leica have a significant number of lenses that share mechanical components.  For example: The 28mm, F2.8 Asph Elmarit-M has the same focussing ring as the 35mm, F2 Asph Summicron-M.  If the components are already available in 1 metal it might not be cost effective to retool, etc to make that same item in the other metal.  Best Regards,  Michael
