spylaw4 Posted June 30, 2016 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2016 Nice image - shame that the structure is in such a parlous state. For those interested in Communist structures, may I recommend the book CCCP - Cosmic Communist Structures Photographed by Frederic Chaubin, pub. Taschen. It has some marvellous communist-era buiildings photographed in it.

alun Posted July 8, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 8, 2016 I'm fascinated by Soviet-era memorials, sculpture and architecture and very much enjoyed seeing this and then looked at some of the others in your series Spomenici (thank you, brill64 for the nudge). If i may say so without causing offence, I would have loved to see some of the series -- including the one you post above -- processed a little more 'naturalistically'. For example, with much lighter vignetting. It works perfectly on some, but with others I felt it obscured or reduced the subject rather than enhancing it.... I know processing is a highly subjective issue, and they are of course your photographs (!!) but I couldn't help feeling that in some cases the processing could have been held back a little without losing the drama that is so important to these pictures/places. Just my view, of course -- and I still think the work you've done to document these historical/social monuments is important and valuable. Well done and congratulations.
