Spir4L Posted June 21, 2016 Share #1  Posted June 21, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I am a Leica T user since near 2 years now and I've always used it with its own summicron 23mm lens. I really would like to try a tele lens so I was thinking on buying a 90mm.  Has someone tried the leica elmarit 90 f2.8 with the T? Do you have any other advices?  Thanks
Advertisement Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Hi Spir4L, Take a look here Which 90mm for the leica T. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Belle123 Posted June 21, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted June 21, 2016 I had the 90 Elmarit, sold recently, am assuming you mean the M lens with a M to T converter. Â It worked fine but just remember is cropped so is like a 135mm lens equivalent. Â Any camera shake will be registered. Â I recommend a tripod. Â It was a lens I already had for my M a long time. Â Decided preferred the wider angles on the T, and I much prefer same for my M. Â
Sully Posted June 21, 2016 Share #3  Posted June 21, 2016 I am patiently waiting for the 60mm, f 2.8, macro lens.  This would be the equivalent  of a 90mm FOV which is good for portraits.  Hopefully, the lens will be relatively small.  Ciao,  Sully

I am not a tripod guy I like to travel "light" when I go to shoot, but I miss having a Tele. Do you think I won't be happy with that so?  I am patiently waiting for the 60mm, f 2.8, macro lens.  This would be the equivalent  of a 90mm FOV which is good for portraits.  Hopefully, the lens will be relatively small.  Ciao,  Sully  A 60 f2.8 would be great, and if relatively small it would be a bargain. But do you have any info about the price and availability?
Spir4L Posted June 21, 2016 Author Share #5 Â Posted June 21, 2016 Two other ideas may be:Â - the leica T 55-135 that can give me that and lot more; - the voiglander 75mm Heliar (that would be something more than 90 with the crop).
Guest satrycon Posted June 21, 2016 Share #6 Â Posted June 21, 2016 i use the 90mm apo summicron f2 asph..no issues...its my main lens for the T, i HATE tripods, and never use flash. Â its perfect with the EVF. Â Â Â Â Â Â Yes I already have the Leica M adapter T, that's why I was thinking about that lens. Â But if really looking for a bargain, the Elmarit 135 would be great for tele for the price used. Â The 90 will cost as much as double or triple. Â I also have the T 55-135 which is far lighter, but I find it a little uninspiring to use compared to my M lenses.
euston Posted June 22, 2016 Share #8  Posted June 22, 2016 I’ve used the Elmarit-M 90 on the T and was very pleased with the results. The magnification aid makes focusing longer manual lenses very easy. I agree with billinghambaglady’s suggestion of a 135mm lens. I also think she’s right about the T 55-135 which is very useful and efficient for some subjects but, to my eye, is rather characterless compared to the M lenses. The Elmarit 135 is about the cheapest M lens out there yet still an excellent lens for M glass.  Believe is a Mandler design and those lenses just make beautiful images.  I was playing around with it on the T last night and it's night and day the difference in what you get from a T 55-135.  The downside is still has those obsolete goggles on it, heavy, and of course looks funny on the T.......but works.  You have to hold it by the lens.  I have thought about seeing if the goggles can be removed.  Would take off some weight.  With EVF on the T or M, not needed.

If you find a good 90 Elmarit, yes I agree. Â The 90 is very compact in comparison. Â Just be prepared to pay prime. Â I was surprised how much I got for mine traded in. Price (2.400 $) and size  / weight identical or at least comparable to the  TL 1:1,4 35 mm- I expect the same superb quality on the 60 mm as on the 35 mm. Owning the 23 mm Summicron as well, I must say, the new TL primes are of much better quality than the first T lenses. They are made in Germany and just from the look and feel, you can tell there was less cost out engineering done. It has an amazing effect on the results.  I will buy the 60 mm as soon as it is available
Don Morley Posted June 29, 2016 Share #13  Posted June 29, 2016 I have tried various genuine modern and older Leica 90s on my T other than the the old 90mm f4 Elmar, and all have worked very well but I especially like the little 90mm f4 Lens for the Leica CL if only considering 90mm focal lengths but my personal preference for a fixed length longer than standard for the Leica T is for the 75mm f2.5 Summarit.  This is a vastly under rated lens which I also just love using on my M9 because it performs and handles so well, indeed although I could afford and have tried a vastly more expensive 75mm f2 Summicron Aspheric I actually prefer the f2.5 over the f2 because as said the f2.5 handles far better in my view, it is also is much lighter, and on my M's interferes less with the viewfinder and rangefinder view, and then finally it balances so well on the T it could even have been made with the T in mind. As to the revised f2.4 versions? Well I have yet to hear what the true differences are if there are any other than cosmetic??. Anyway that is my pennyworth on the subject! Best wishes to all, Don
tom0511 Posted July 4, 2016 Share #14 Â Posted July 4, 2016 I have used the 55-135 for some time now and I am more than happy with that lens. Its relatvly compact for what it is, excellent image quality - and for that focal length range I find AF a real benefit. I find it specially usefull for family things, kids at the lake, small events, portrait etc. I also own an M adapter and several M lenses but if I use the T I much prefer the original lens (specially the 35TL, the 18-56 and the 55-135)

It seems a really interesting lens and I would like to see some photos you took with the T and the 75 if possible!
MichaelU Posted November 10, 2016 Share #16 Â Posted November 10, 2016 I had the opportunity to test the new 60 macro TL (equivalent to 90 mm full frame) a few weeks ago. It is a phantastic lens delivering excellent IQ. Â Â Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Guest Posted November 11, 2016 Share #17 Â Posted November 11, 2016 I would suggest folks comsider these TL primes. With 60lppm as Leica's design target, they may outperform M glass on the T- because of their tight digital integration (lens correction etc). Forget the s/w correction however - this TL glass is biting sharp. Bravo Leica!
