S adapter for SL

I tried the adapter with 70/100/120/180 but only for a few shots. I did not find a big difference between the lenses in these first quick test.

I found at portrait distance not too bad. When going close or far it can take quite long , but once the distance of the lens is focused in the area AF seems ok and accurate.

It was good enough for me that I decided to buy the adapter.

Now if you put the 24-90 on the SL afterwards thats another speed an very quiet in comparison to the S-adapter + S-lenses.

I would not buy a S lens and adapter just for the SL, but for someone who allready owns S lenses its interesting.

Of course people can ask when would I use an S lens on the SL when I also own an S body. Good question.

Maybe when I am out or on vacation with the SL+Zoom and additionally want to bring a portrait (100), Macro (120) or Tele (180) lens.

The reason I am thinking about a S70 and S-SL adapter is for portraits and AF.  I am using mostly M lenses now but do not have a 75mm M lens (closest in focal length), and there is a used S70 I have my eye on. So far I have resisted the temptation, but I know that resisting gear temptation is not one my strengths.

Conclusion: the adapter is definitely loud and slow compared to the very quick AF speed I'm seeing with both my 24-90 and 90-280 zooms but if you have S lenses already, its a no brainer. I think a FW update will fix the AF speed and possibly sound

Have anyone tried the S30-90 zoom with the adapter ? I still use only M lenses on my SL and the adapter is not available in my parts yet

I tried the 30-90 zoom also but didn't see a point since I already have the 24-90 native zoom. Slow to zoom but reliable focus confirmation unlike the 70mm which seems to have issues

Again, if you already have S lenses then it's a different story

I only have two S-lenses, so I probably won't go for the adapter.  It would be a difference though if I could use my Contax 645 lenses on the SL as well.

Does anybody know why stacking of adapters is not possible?

I assume physically it is possible so why would it not work?  Would it just be AF that is not working?  Or did Leica just block it altogether?

Got mine today after first getting a faulty adapter (Lens Communication Error), my dealer got a new one for me within 24 hrs.

Tested with a whole range of S-lenses: 24, 30-90, 100, 120, 180, works fine, a little bit of hunting in some situations.

Someone said the 100mm was problematic, this is not my experience, perfect on the S007, performs like the other lenses on the SL w/adapter.

Hi folks

got my adapter today and was disapointed about the firmware issue on the lenses. Hope they will make an update available for the S006 and the S2 as well. I don't see myself moving with my S-lenses to a dealer just for a firmwareupdate).

Other question: The manual let think that the focussing is manual only???? I hope this is just wrong otherwise i would be highly disapointed!
