Ahhhh - the beauty of a Q over the M or SL; one handed operation :)

Well done, as the exposure is spot on and the lights bright enough to make the background black - or does the Q sync at high speed?

Silly me -  I looked at the Exif in your Flickr shots 1/500, so it is the high speed sync you use to black out the background.

Again, a beautiful series with lovely expressions on all the Cosplay folk.

Cool. Give us some more details about your setup. Looks cool. :D

Cheers,

SF-40 on camera with a Godox 360 in softbox off camera :)

Setup manual f11 1/500th to block out ambient, and then balanced my flashes for key and fill.

Well, the reasons for holding on to my DSLR were down to studio work, portrait work, and product. Now after viewing these, I'm down to just product and I'm having doubts about that. Masterclass in doing a lot with a little; getting a big look with minimum gear. Good work. And if anyone tells you that a 28 is unsuitable for portrait work, please direct them to this thread.

Sweet! Thanks.

How do you deal with the fact that the wiewfinder goes black with those settings when you focus by half pressing?

That is one of my biggest frustrations with the Q.

Until you have press you have normal ability to frame with the EVF, and given the Q is 99.9% accurate in terms of AF  (plus he's shooting at f11),  I think its pretty simple to just compose, then half press/shoot

Yes I know, but it still is annoying :D I wish they could do an option as on the M to turn the exposure preview off.

I had it on wide area AF, if you keep lightly pressing it you can see the focus squares before it goes black - if AF wasn't getting it right I keep pressing, I did also recompose blindly when i acquired AF then moved the camera and fire a shot to see how the preview is framed.

These are superb!

And exemplify how versatile the Q is.

Please can you explain how you get both flashes to fire? Is the SF40 controlling the Godox? I'm ignorant about these matters but I would like to know more.

There is one actually but its some sort of workaround.

If you assign the thumb button to AE-L, the exposure preview is OFF (unless you use AE-L).

I would love to know how you get both flashes to fire too. I have a SF40 and a FlashQ double pack.

Sorry missed biglouis's post,

I have a TTL cord is effectively allow me to mount two devices to the hot shoe. It fires both simultaneously, one being the SF-40 and the other being a remote trigger for the godox.
