farnz Posted May 14, 2016 Share #21 Posted May 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) And to Farnz: I think it is a zoom, isn't it ?... Yes it is a bona fide zoom. And to Farnz: ... (cropping in LR gives always more possibilities than fiddling with the camera on a shoot.) True of course but framing with a 50 mm field of view when shooting can be important to some people too. Advertisement Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Hi farnz, Take a look here Vario-Elmarit R 21-35mm on SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
steppenw0lf Posted May 14, 2016 Share #22 Posted May 14, 2016 From toyfel: (I think they were only sold in Japan) Not sure if you'd call it a test ... (Sorry, I mixed up editing) This explains why it was never tested in the rest of the world. (being sold only in Japan) Sorry, I simply have to ask: Are you "the devil", or does it only sound so in german ? (To all others, ask a german speaking person what is meant, do not search for an insult, because it isn't.) I have read his "report" a few days ago. What he writes is interesting, but I have to confess he lost all credibility (for me) as a tester, when he easily degraded the MATE. He dismissed it in a single sentence without the slightest hint as to why ? And probably without properly testing it. He would maybe not have shown the results, but certainly at least would have talked a while about the (great) test he did, if he had done it. So sorry, the lens is still "unknown territory" for me - which is not bad, simply neutral. This "tester" - or more precisely writer - makes no difference. So I hope I did not walk on your toes. But in german your nickname is remarkable. And I just wonder, is it just coincidence or did you choose it on purpose ? Stephan

Sandokan Posted May 14, 2016 Share #24 Posted May 14, 2016 FYI - there are three 21-35 lenses in Leica Store Munich when I was there yesterday. Very tempting.
J S H Posted May 15, 2016 Share #25 Posted May 15, 2016 The only drawback of the 19/2,8 V2 is the lack of filter thread. The internal filter turret is of little use on digital cameras (other than the M Monochrom). It would be nice if Leica could replace the 3 built-in color filters with 3 different ND filters. Actually, It's very easy to add filter capabilities to the 19R VII. I sold mine a few years ago, but as I recall, a Heliopan 72-82 step up ring with one layer of gaffers tape inside provides a perfect friction fit over the lens barrel. This will allow you to use 82mm filters with no vignetting.
