peterjcb Posted June 5, 2016 Share #21 Posted June 5, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using a 35 Summicron asph which is a great lens and recently just picked up an older 35 Summilux V.2 (1975) which I just sent out to Youxin Ye this morning for a CLA ...I think I'm going to like how tiny it is..The bottom plane photo was shot with my M8 35 Summicron asph flower_girl by Peter, on Flickr 35 Summilux pre-asph V.2 (1975) Piper by Peter, on Flickr

Guest JMF Posted June 5, 2016 Share #22 Posted June 5, 2016 I did. Still lacks the sparkle of modern glass. Interesting suggestion. How does this lens render? Here a shot taken with the UC Hexanon 35 LTM on the M240 for lack of a true MM shot to share : St Pair sur Mer by JM__, on Flickr and a couple in color here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/186858-the-view-through-older-glass/?p=3056845 Best, JM. tom0511 Posted June 5, 2016 Share #23 Posted June 5, 2016 I would second 35 Summarit, even though I dont own one anymore. I use 35/1.4FLE or Summicron most of the time but think the Summarit renders more gentle . Might get one again one day.
4X5B&W Posted June 5, 2016 Share #24 Posted June 5, 2016 Found a very nice Summaron 2.8, just fits the Monochrom nicely and the results are excellent. My M240/Summilux ASPH and the Mono/Summaron. Belle123 Posted June 6, 2016 Share #25 Posted June 6, 2016 I went backwards with my M246 on lens preferences. Love the older Summicrons, 35 and 50 pre Asph, and Noctilux V1. They render so beautifully on this camera, the Mandler designed lenses. My original V4 Summicron 35mm, will never let it go! Lightest of them all. I do have a few more up to date lenses, but prefer them on color. I also put on an ancient v1 Summicron R 35mm and it just blew me away. I still have to use that one more, but it's so clunky on on M! Geoffrey James Posted June 14, 2016 Share #26 Posted June 14, 2016 The Biogon c f2.8 is the sharpest lens I have used on Leicas, but I don't care for the look -- it gives you artifacts on the M9. In fact I am trying to get rid of mine. I prefer the Summicron V4.
jaapv Posted June 14, 2016 Share #27 Posted June 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is wonderful on the Monochrom 1 I don't like it on the M9 either - too much moiré. It does fine on the M240 as well, but I like the colour rendering of the Summicron asph better and was mightily impressed by the Distagon 35/1.

Peoplewing Posted June 23, 2016 Share #29 Posted June 23, 2016 I have had those three Zeiss ZM 35 lenses, 1.4, 2.0 and 2.8. The 1.4 now is my #1 on MM246. Yes, there is finder blockade with this Lens, and it weights a bit more than the others. But I can accept this because of the phenominal IQ and the wonderful new opportunities while shooting with 1.4. The 2.8 is absolutly comparable in terms of IQ. So I have to decide each time between the light and small, but "only 2.8" on one hand and the bright 1.4 on the other hand. When I bought these two lenses for the 246 I thougt I would use both, depending on the field of application. In practice, I use 99 % the 1.4, because of speed and the ultimative IQ at 1.4. The Biogon 2.0 is a wonderful lens for film, but not a good decision for digital Leicas because of low IQ in the edges. So, I sold the 2.0, and it seems to me that the very nice little 2.8 has to leave as well, for budget reasons. Sorry, I can't tell you anything about 35er Leica lenses, as I never had one. Peoplewing Posted June 23, 2016 Share #30 Posted June 23, 2016 BTW, my ultimative lens on the M246 is the Zeiss C-Sonnar 50/1.5 (as I don't have the budget for a Noct.).
