jmr Posted May 3, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) As Leica have now introduced the M-D, I thought it might be an appropriate time to share how I've managed for over a year shooting with a digital camera sans LCD. http://macfilos.com/photo/leica-md-m60edition-reviews-tests-impressions Spoiler alert: It's been fun. IkarusJohn Posted May 3, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2016 The limitations of the M60 have made using it a delight. I make no claim to have been transformed into a better photographer by this camera, but I am a happier one—both when taking the pictures and when reviewing them later in post-processing. Nice. Couldn't agree more.
Peter H Posted May 3, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2016 Nice. Thanks for posting. May I ask, when you take a photo, do you ever do so in the knowledge of how you are going to develop it in post-processing, with a specific end result in mind? Or is it more a voyage of discovery? jmr Posted May 3, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted May 3, 2016 Nice. Thanks for posting. May I ask, when you take a photo, do you ever do so in the knowledge of how you are going to develop it in post-processing, with a specific end result in mind? Or is it more a voyage of discovery? I know how I'm going to process them before I set out. Almost always in colour, aiming for an Astia look. I like to keep things simple.

jcraf Posted May 4, 2016 Share #10 Posted May 4, 2016 Really well written article, absolutely spot-on. And having some lovely images to accompany it was the icing on the cake. Thanks John, from an M-D newbie. Regards
jmr Posted May 9, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted May 9, 2016 Thanks John, from an M-D newbie. I think you're going to like the technical simplicity of the M-D. It frees you to think only about the possibilities of the scene in front of you, rather than being concerned with the needs of the camera, well, it does in my experience at least. Since my post above, I've done a day in London and a day in Cambridge with the M-D. And I'm very pleased with the results. I really love how it's making me shoot in a more, well, thoughtful way. Even down to something as simple as considering the ISO setting (I am usually lazy, and rely on auto ISO). Regards
