Wayne Posted May 2, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am distracted by the waist level finder, AUFSU. In concept it seems like a pretty neat thing to have for use on the standard and IA. I am curious, in practical use, does it allow you to accurately frame? In past I have used pretty small waste level finders on Canon F1 and Pentax LX SLR cameras, but this AUFSU takes "small" viewfinder to a whole new level. M9reno Posted May 3, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2016 It definitely works! Surprisingly accurate, in my opinion.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 3, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2016 Yes... considering it's age, it's really an accessory of good optical quality : I got a sort of comparision with a similar device that I had onto an old (but postwar) 6x9 folding camera : it was indeed smaller (attached to the front ring with lens & shutter.. it folded inside the body) so that the framing was by definition less comfortable, but it also distorced a lot , compared to the AUFSU. Wayne Posted May 3, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted May 3, 2016 Thanks for the responses. I will not be able to get the viewfinder in time, but I get to take the IA to Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati this Sunday. I am thinking Portra 160 for some color shots. What an entertaining camera.

I have used the AUFSU on my Minolta CLE and the M7. The accuracy is quite enough for practical photography. My main use was for pictures with the camera held close to the ground. I would focus first and then take the picture with the camera down low. I also have the 35 and 28mm versions. These accessories prevented me from lying down on my belly and feeling quite foolish Teddy
TLG Posted July 21, 2023 Share #6 Posted July 21, 2023 Could anyone who knows inform me what the second [male] cold shoe is for on the later AUFSUs? There's a female cold shoe for hosting a spirit level/accessory, but not sure what the second male one is for (at right angles), especially since it won't fit into my camera cold shoe (or at least not without with great difficulty). Many thanks for any insight.

TLG Posted July 21, 2023 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2023 Thank you. Hmmm, I must simply have a tight fit on the cold shoe then. 🤔 Cheers!

TLG Posted July 25, 2023 Share #10 Posted July 25, 2023 Ahhh, the DOOLU. Nice, and indeed expensive! I just went for a super cheap modern plastic level that is small enough to live permanently on the AUFSU while in its case. Welcome, dear visitor! nf3996 Posted July 25, 2023 Share #11 Posted July 25, 2023 I also have a DOOLU, but it's lost its bubble so is now quite useless! Alan
