Having amassed a substantial fortune - largely on account of the extraordinary successes of his novels 'The Three Musketeers' and 'The Count of Monte-Cristo' - the house was designed and built, between 1844 and 1846 (Hippolyte Durand, Architect) to Dumas' quite interesting(*) brief at a cost of 500,000 Francs. He settled into this quiet, country retreat in 1846-'47. Unfortunately not long afterwards he was ruined, financially, by the 1848 Revolution and, himself a declared bankrupt, in 1949 the Chateau was sold for a mere 31,000 Francs.

Fascinating Place and, indeed, Person! I would highly recommend a Visit if one happens to find oneself in the area.

Philip.

Apologies! Typing-Fart time again. That, clearly (hopefully?), should have been "...in 1849 the Château was sold..."...

I recently acquired a nice M240 from another forum member to complement my M246M.

Here's an early photo, taken in the market of Zaragoza. I like the colours it produced.

This photo makes me want to buy an M240, a Summilux ASPH and move to Alpilles.

absolutely love it.

In spite of its age, the M240 is still a good camera.  24mp is enough to make exhibit quality fine prints at 24x36 inch size.

As for the Alpilles, a photographer could certainly do worse in terms of a scenic location to live.

Black and white processed.

I went on my first photowalk this Sunday.

I visited the construction site of Signa in Hamburg.

This project may take some time to complete the tower.

It is the final building that will complete one side of the harbor city and is intended to represent the end of a wave.

Let’s see when this tower will be finished.
