While driving back from Houston, I took an hour to stop and see Meteor Crater in Arizona. While there, I saw a guy who had a nice Nikon camera and looked like he knew what he was doing with it. So I set up my camera for focus and exposure and asked him to snap my picture. It worked! :-)

My M9 is still in the shop, who knows when the sensor will be replaced. I've got a hiking trip coming up and like to get something lighter than my old 5DII. So I caved in and bought myself a used M 240.

Things I like about the M240:

Size does not bother me too much. LV might be useful certainly to check the focus accuracy of my lenses.

I can even fire a flash in LV (which the 5DII can't do).

What bothers me about the M240:

Startup time is a step back from the M9. There's some relay that switches on when the camera is ready, that's something I need to get used to.

I am sure that the noise is lower and the dynamic range larger than the M9. I have no illusions that given the age of the M240 this camera can't compete against the specs of a Sony, Fuji or whaterver modern marvels are out there. For the stuff I shoot, that will not make a big difference, I think.

In any case, I look forward to getting back into using these amazing Leica lenses.
