thighslapper Posted April 23, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted April 23, 2016 ...... as dinner was consumed it was dragged further into the shrubbery ...... until light enough to be flown off with ...... I think this is one of a pair that nest in the west side of the belfry of our village church just round the corner ....... the accommodation is semi-detached ..... a pair of jackdaws always nest in the east side ..... but they seem to rub along ok with no problems. XVarior Posted April 24, 2016 Share #3 Posted April 24, 2016 What a catch. The beautiful hunter became the prey by your shot. With a camera-lens like this I would crop all the way to the action in the first shot as all the surrounding space is of no interest compared to what lies under his claws. www.rodriguezahr.com
euston Posted April 24, 2016 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2016 Excellent shots! I agree with Rodrigue that a tighter crop on the first one would give the Sparrowhawk and his kill the dominance in the frame that they deserve.
stuny Posted April 24, 2016 Share #5 Posted April 24, 2016 Terrific. when I fist saw # 1 I too thought it should be cropped similar to what Rodrigue suggests, but leaving move open space to the right. In both cases I'd make the crop move the bird off center, leaving extra space in the direction it's facing.
Tom Barry Posted April 24, 2016 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2016 Excellent captures of nature in the raw.
thighslapper Posted April 24, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted April 24, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks folks ...... but there is a reason for most things ...... these were taken from a considerable distance in overcast conditions through a window obliquely with reflections and other issues ..... the original images are high iso, low contrast and full forum sized images are 100% crops and despite a lot of processing are not up to the standard I would normally accept ....... but they are interesting so I posted them rather than scrapping them ..... this is a cropped version as per suggestions .....at a size that looks technically ok to me ...... Northwest Wanderer Posted April 24, 2016 Share #8 Posted April 24, 2016 The cropped image is better. You're lucky to have experienced the moment.
