MP3 Posted June 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Will receive John's LT-M8 adapter soon. Preparing to code it for my CV21/4. Is there any link showing the coding of this adapter? To be specific, I'm just considering what polish paint or model paint to use, seems to be some matt black ones. Will I need to put white on the cell or just leave them there. Any advice ? Cheers Matthew
Advertisement Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Hi MP3, Take a look here jlm adapter coding - which paint?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MrSlezak Posted June 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2007 A store near me was clearing out Testor's model paint for 37-cents a bottle, so I gave it a shot and it wokred fine. I used a tooth pick to paint with and everything came out fine. Hope this helps
marknorton Posted June 5, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2007 I think you need matt (flat) paint, not gloss. Model paint will be fine as is the black enamel sold by Micro Tools. Doesn't seem necessary to paint the white dots.
martinb Posted June 5, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2007 A bit OT, but what is the price of this adapter?
jaapv Posted June 5, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 5, 2007 Humbrol model paint, matte, black # 33, white # 34 And this is Carsten's link : Leica M8 Lens Codes The adapter if I remember correctly is about 150$, but I may be wrong.

martinb Posted June 5, 2007 Share #7 Posted June 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the information! If I'll get a 15mm CV I'll get one. Is the shipping expensive?
stunsworth Posted June 5, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 5, 2007 Martin it was either 10 or 10 USD to the UK - I think 20, I can't remember the exact cost and I don't have the original email with the charges with me.
grdglass Posted June 5, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 5, 2007 Model Master Acryl 4768 Flat Black. No white. Glossy nail polish didn't work for me. Helene
Hans Roggen Posted June 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted June 5, 2007 I did it with a black cd marker. Hans
martinb Posted June 5, 2007 Share #11 Posted June 5, 2007 Thanks Steve! Might be worth twice the price over a CV adapter. However, it's very easy to code the CV 15mm. Is it only available in the 28/90mm version?
stunsworth Posted June 5, 2007 Share #12 Posted June 5, 2007 Martin, I believe he now does all three types of adaptor. Of couse the advantage over hand coding is that the markings shouldn't wear off as they would on a normal lens/adapstor.
Cindy Flood Posted June 5, 2007 Share #13 Posted June 5, 2007 I did it with nail polish on the recommendation of Sean Reid. The advantage of nail polish is that it can be removed with nail polish remover. I used Wetnwild 424A (black) and 449C(white). They are 99 cents each at Walgreens. Sean recommends painting one hole at a time and filling it. Let it dry. He uses an old credit card to scrape the top down after each hole is filled. One note - I scrape the surface of the adapter (from the inside to the outer edge) after I paint each hole (so while its still wet). MP3 Posted June 6, 2007 Author Share #18 Posted June 6, 2007 Got it with matt black and matt white nail paint, toothpick, plastic card, nail polish liquid liquid and cotton stick. My M8 now treat my CV21 as the 21 Elmarit asph. Took a few comparative shots with 'on & UV-IR' and 'off'. It works! Thanks for all your kind advices. rpierce Posted June 6, 2007 Share #19 Posted June 6, 2007 For my jlm adapter for the CV15, I used OPI Nail Lacquer: "Alpine Snow" and "Black Onyx." So far it has worked fine...but, I have alot of (Goth?) nail polish left over. More importantly, has anyone had a problem with their paint choice working intermittantly with their adapter? Or, it has stopped working? Bob Pierce
