meerec Posted April 18, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) ... calling all owners of the APO-VARIO-ELMARIT-SL 90–280 mm f/2.8-4 ... Have you recorded your unboxing of the lens? Regretfully there is no information anywhere on the net to be found about what comes in the box with it. Can you let me know what comes with the lens? meerec Posted April 18, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted April 18, 2016 Is the soft case of any practical use, or does it stay in the box and another is needed?
meerec Posted April 18, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted April 18, 2016 @FlashFordonPhotography how does the front lens cap look like? Does it come off easily so it's easy to be lost? How about the good? Is it snap on or screw in? Plastic or metal? Is it possible to put the lens cap on with the hood on? Can a protect filter be attached to the lens front element and the lens cap will still snap to it? And the hood?
thighslapper Posted April 18, 2016 Share #7 Posted April 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) The fabric case is useful to protect from scratches/abrasion ...... I used it to carry the 90-280 in a small backpack whilst cycling/hiking and in a case for the flight. Ideally I need a hard case that can be slung over the shoulder similar to that for a telescope ..... these size of lenses used to come with nice leather ones ... but sadly no more.... Front cap is identical to the 24-90 ..... 2 side presses to attach ...... doesn't fall off, plastic. I hate lens hoods ....... unless telescopic .... and both of mine are still in the original lens boxes in the garage. No issues with stray light or flare in Sicily where is was very sunny ..... or at least nothing that a hand to shield from the sun couldn't eliminate. Good to hear about flare control and stray light. I see the hood also as a protection of the lens itself when you carry it.
FlashGordonPhotography Posted April 18, 2016 Share #9 Posted April 18, 2016 My fabric pouch is unopened. I never use them as I always carry gear in a camera bag of some type. Hood is round and plastic. Designed for 90mm so quite short. Yes you can use filters with hood and lens cap. No hood slot to rotate polariser like Sony and Fuji teles. Caps are identical to 24-90 and usable with hood in place. I'll probably replace my caps with something cheap I can lose without Leica replacement cost. I always use my hoods. I don't like filters unless required for a specific purpose so the hood protects the front element when in use as well as providing shade. Gordon Dear Gordon, If it is not to much to ask, could please post a picture of the tripod mount from the bottom without the lens plate or strap attachment mounted. I would like to see the configuration of the screw holes. Thank you you in advance. Lucien
