Another great image with appealing bokeh. Aren't the Jade plants amazing there, they can grow as big as trees. They're used as hedges on Gonzalez Suarez.

Yes, as big as trees. Yes they use it as hedges on Av. Gonzalez Suarez.

I have two of them in my terrace; the one I posted is blooming, the other no.

Thanks for your kind comments!

Beautiful, and the 1st time I've seen jade blooming. Years ago a girlfriend gave me a jade plant and warned me if it died we were through. I think that was just an easy way for her to break up with me.

Thank you Stuart for your comments. I am sorry for what happened with your girlfriend….

The blooming is very strange. From the same plant, which I separated in to pots, one has bloomed, the other not.

"The blooming is very strange".....this is so true, I have several potted jade plants residing happily inside my house, they are perhaps twelve or thirteen years old and have become so large that I cannot move them, not one of them has ever produced a flower.

This is such a nice photo by the way...and perfect dof.

Excellent photo, tack sharp with a creamy smooth bokeh. I'll add my name to the list of those who have never seen a jade plant bloom.

Stuart, Photograph,

This is a quick D Lux 4 shot of my jade plants. They were the same tree and we separated them, in two vases,  six months ago. Now the one on the left bloomed, the other did'nt.

Very strange.

I read somewhere (a long time ago) that plants, including trees and shrubs, tend to produce more flowers/blossom than normal when they have been greatly stressed in some way or have endured a very bad time of drought etc.

Apparently this is in a desperate, last ditch attempt to propagate, to spread seeds, pollen or whatever before dying and thereby save themselves and the species. I don't know....but I've always thought this terribly sad.

Perhaps your jade plant that did flower was moved to a new pot while the plant that did not flower remained in the same old pot, and so underwent less trauma?....just a thought.

My sister in law, in Quito, has a big Jade tree that is blossoming and it never moved from its place.

I went to my sister in law house - with my D Lux 4 - and took pictures of her Blooming Jade tree. She told me its the first time it bloomed.

Global warming and/or El Niño effect??

All the best.

This is absolutely the loveliest jade tree I have ever seen, it is not just bursting with flowers but the fat little 'leaves' are in such profusion, thank you for taking these photos and for posting!
