hepcat Posted April 9, 2016 Share #481 Posted April 9, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Its serious my end............ I know some of the members like to raise hell. With this thread I have gone out and bought a Leica M6 and now shot 5 rolls of film, 7 actually. The very first was 36 frames of Black and White on the first frame as I didn't load the film correctly (we talked about that one already. The 6th was also a F$%# up. I was shooting a very pretty jetty in Penang early morning with my M6 in B&W. I only had 4 frames left on the roll so I took my time for the best light as the sun came up. I fired off those 4 shots then put the Leica Q on the tripod and took a bunch of pictures of that. Then panic kicked in. I forgot that I had a roll of color film in my pocket, so quickly grabbed the M6 and nearly VERY FRIGGING nearly took the base plate off before rewinding the B&W film ........................Now that would have been a real F$%$ up if that had happened, in fact the M6 would have probably died a death in the Penang Straights at that point :) Anyway I quickly rewound the film and loaded the color film...........now this is where I f$%$#@ up. The sun was rising so fast that I didn't bother to check and see if the film had caught the sprocket, I just shut the back door, put the half case on, mounted it on the tripod and bobs your uncle 42 frames later I realised that I was still on the first frame...........Bloody plonker Williams LMAO... I'm pretty sure that none of us has ever done this too... at least two or three times in our film shooting days....
Advertisement Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Hi hepcat, Take a look here Leica Film Odyssey for a beginner. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Doc Henry Posted April 9, 2016 Share #482 Posted April 9, 2016 Pending the development of your films and as I told you earlier ,you can push film eg Kodak Portra 400 pushed here to 800 (notice the nice grain and not "smoothing pixels") This photo was taken almost black night in the Old Port in Marseille (France) after the sunset. Yes it is blurry , but I like it. So Neil , no need high isos like in digital camera, you can easily shoot film in dark ! without "denaturing the atmosphere" and without "transforming night photo in day" it's absurd Best Henry Kodak Portra 400 > 800 (home lab dev : Tetenal 30°C) M7-35 Summilux Asph Mom and me Street photos Welcome, dear visitor! Guest Posted April 9, 2016 Share #484 Posted April 9, 2016 ...The sun was rising so fast that I didn't bother to check and see if the film had caught the sprocket, I just shut the back door, put the half case on, mounted it on the tripod and bobs your uncle 42 frames later I realised that I was still on the first frame...........Bloody plonker Williams Of course its the wretched half-case that screwed you up — taking it off putting in on. I'm only half joking, but really have no admiration for fussy half-cases. Ralph Gibson says they're simply a pain. A shooter with Leica-M cameras from forever, he is believer in getting to know the camera so well, by practicing at home without film, that he can set the aperture and shutter without looking. He also feels that one can know roughly what shutter speed one shot at by he sound — and doesn't like that sound being muffled by a half-case. He also thinks that half-cases muffle the sound of the shutter, so that the photographer can't
Guest Posted April 9, 2016 Share #485 Posted April 9, 2016 ... I have always 2 cameras in my bag , one with a roll of color film (M7) and one with b&w (MP) ... I used to do that until one day in Bangkok (37°C) I went out without a camera bag, only with my M6 and one lens on the camera and another in my pocket — and found that I got better pictures than when I lugged a two M6s and a brace of lenses. Since then I only take one camera and one lens in my pocket, and usually end up not even changing lenses. Also, I don't like switching between B&W and color and find that I do better by shooting in "binges", a few months of color and then a few months of B&W. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted April 9, 2016 Share #486 Posted April 9, 2016 I also can set the appetite and shutter without looking. I can take the half case off without looking. I can even gustamate the shutter speed What I obviously can't do is load a frigging film

honcho Posted April 9, 2016 Share #490 Posted April 9, 2016 Appetite? I'm going to need further instructions on setting that. It's very easy: The size of the hole is relative to the amount that goes into it.
Doc Henry Posted April 9, 2016 Share #491 Posted April 9, 2016 @Not a hero, in fact it depends of the shots, according to my "inspiration" at the moment , I find that some photos are better in b&w than in color. Some pictures is better in b&w perhaps more artistic or more dramatic... else color gives the picture an added value Anyway, I do not like to convert color to b&w. I'm a purist isn't Neil ? I do like Leica with Huawei as here monochrome or color : http://petapixel.com/2016/04/06/first-photos-taken-dual-lens-huawei-p9/ Regards H.

Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted April 9, 2016 Share #497 Posted April 9, 2016 It looks like an Arte Di Mano... Only the VERY best for our Neil! Bill I had a Arte Di Mano for my M9 Monochrom, and kept that when I sod the MM. I was hoping it was going to fit the M6 but it was like what some folks do and that is put a Leica lens on a Sony A7............... it somewhat fits but looks like shit. If you remember the buying of the M6 was all a wee bitty of a hurry, so rather than walking around looking like someone with a XXXL shirt on a M size body, I went out and bought a Chinese/Taiwanese/Bukit Bintang MADE GARIZ half case. The locking mechanism would be great if you had Asian female sized fingers.........nearly impossible to open it with my fingers, so we had to modify that with a piece of thread hanging off the locking mechanism................. note exactly cool walking around town with a 6K camera rig and a piece of black thread hanging off the bottom........people would come up to me and say "hay nice camera, whats with half your shirt hanging off the bottom" :) Within 5 days the bloody metal base plate came off. I tried gluing it back on with super glue, that also must have been made in China/Taiwanese/Bukit Bintang because that didn't work........... the only thing that stuck together was my fingers on my left hand to the base plate and my fingers of my right hand to my steering wheel of my beautiful car............ Okay so now I am really pissed off, my wife calmed me down. She pried my fingers off the base plate. She took me to some guys shoe repair shop in Bangsar. Two cups of coffee later the base plate is back on the half case, but it is still covered with super glue and three layers of my bloody skin :( Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I will now need to take my car to Porsche and see if they can repair the leather steering wheel......... When I get back on the rig on Thursday I will order the Arte Di Mano half case like I should have done in the first place.
