Michael-IIIf Posted June 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've always had a sneaky suspicion Dungeness migth be an interesting place to visit and on Friday I put it to the test. A day's worth of frustrating driving through the crowded South East of England was worth it for the strangeness that is Dungeness. steve kessel Posted June 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 3, 2007 Michael Very interesting b&w series. I like no 4 the best - very other worldly. Steve.
biglouis Posted June 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 3, 2007 Michael Lovely tones in these very interesting landscapes - looks like an interesting destination for any photographer. LouisB
JE Posted June 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 4, 2007 Michael, beautiful series. A little while back someone else posted some shots from here...this really is a stange place and you've captured its emptiness very well. Great compositions. The sky in #1 and #4 is beautifully menacing, pushing down on the landscape. Jonathan
squiff Posted June 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 4, 2007 Nice series. It reminds me a bit of Richard Misrach and his 'Desert Cantos' body of work. Images of the american midwest, old nuclear test wastelands. Quite haunting and beautiful. I am interested in the story of Dungeness? simply an abandoned town, or something more? s
elansprint72 Posted June 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 4, 2007 I very much like the quality of your shots. This is on my list of "to do" locations, I bookmarked this website when researching the place: Dungeness, photos taken around the windswept village of Dungeness, Romney Marsh, on the south coast of Kent, England

Michael-IIIf Posted June 4, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted June 4, 2007 Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I am interested in the story of Dungeness? simply an abandoned town, or something more? s Stephanie - funnily enough Dungeness is familiar to most in the UK as a nuclear power plant. I purposely opted not to include the station in my pics as I thought that would have been too clichéed. The disused small fireplaces and narrow guage railway I guess had something to do with fishing. The weird little huts and shacks are a UK institution: beachside holiday huts. In fact there were many holiday makers there. Beer guts, noisy children and ugly dogs on display. Again, I opted not to include them - I prefer the bleakness. tnx again M
andybarton Posted June 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 4, 2007 Nice series Michael. This place is also on MY to-do list... What film did you use?
Michael-IIIf Posted June 7, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted June 7, 2007 Nice series Michael. This place is also on MY to-do list... What film did you use? The free variety: Panasonic sensor - D2. Unlike Gérald, I haven't worn mine out yet. You'd like Dungeness - they have a light house.
