I lost a fine Cuban cigar to one of these birds last summer while on a field trip. I can only hope it enjoyed a good smoke.   Welcome, dear visitor! I was up in the Cranbrook, Canada  area so I broke no law. It's silly the things politics dictates. I only smoke on special occasions so I figured I might as well enjoy something special.  The cigar was resting on the edge of a picnic table while we eat lunch. It was not lit at the time. I was saving it for after the meal to enjoy with a glass of wine. The jays were all around and we tossed bread crumbs to them. We placed some at the end of the picnic table and they would land, take the bread and fly off. That's when one of the jays snatched the cigar and flew off. I could not believe it happened.
