From a project that I am working on about the De-industrialisation of my hometown, Bradford in West Yorkshire, UK.

The "Wool Capital of the World" was once one of the richest cities in Europe but hard times have come and the wool trade is no more. The warehouses and mills are derelict and abandoned and slowly decaying away.

I have photographed it all in colour but I also wanted to document it in B&W to more match my sombre feelings and sadness of how it's all gone and before the wrecking ball finally reduces it all to rubble.

This is Cannon Mills in the Great Horton district of Bradford - It's pretty close to my heart as I was brought up just over the road from where these pictures were taken. My mother was a nurse during WW11 and after the war she worked at these mills as the Matron in the sick bay. I remember in the 1960's when they worked 2shifts night and day and at change of shift there were hundreds of people in the street, going to nearby homes or waiting to catch the bus at the top of the road.

These were on a Leica M240 with 21mm Elmar lens.

More for my lessons on inner city decline :)

Lovely. Nice advantage from the low sunlight from the left.

Thanx, in this case it was some kind of easy to take the picture,  the view to the right more cloudy....

My project on the de-industrialisation of my hometown - Bradford, West Yorkshire UK.

Once the "Wool Capital" of the world but now the wool trade is long gone and the derelict mills are abandoned and decaying.

I have been documenting this decline for a few years now. I originally did it all in colour but now I am shooting a lot of it in B&W because it matches my mood and  how I feel about how my city has just been left to it's fate and ultimate terminal decline.

These picture were taken today with a Leica M9P with 21mm SEM, 50mm Asph Summilux and 90mm APO Summicron lenses.

Very poignant series.
