When you open International Users Forum, then Other, then  Barnack's Monthly............... it was at the bottom of the the current page. Perhaps you know how to start it up again.

This is the one, I think.

In the bar: Thoughts inspired by Barnack's Monthly

Yes that's it, I was mistaken. Since no one posted anything since September last year, I went back about 17 pages and was unable to find it. Suppose we could open a new one if there was interest. Even without "Thoughts inspired by....", the Monthlies are great fun.

the title sounds good, but i fear that many are reluctant to pursue always look up in a new thread -

why is not actually commented directly in the month thread? there is much more direct and timely......

My homage to Bill Brandt - one of the greatest ever British photographers.

Brandt photographed this scene in the 1930's for Lillyput magazine as part of a series called " Hail Hell and Halifax"

This scene was captioned by Brandt  "A snicket in Halifax"

It's going up to the old footbridge over what was the railway line between Bradford and Halifax,  at Halifax, the site of the former North Bridge, Railway Stn.

Brandt also photographed the scene from the top of the bridge looking at the railway lines, and captioned it "Catchpoints".

The railway is long gone but everything else is unchanged - just as Brandt stood there and photographed it with his Rolleiflex over 70yrs ago.

I used a Leica M9 with a 50mm Summicron lens.

Love the grittiness and high contrast.

Always liked Bill Brandt's style.

How do I post an image. Help!

From the Leica Forum FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

How do I upload photos to the forum?

  • Within the box "Reply to this topic" click on the button "More Reply Options". You will now see a largish paper clip and a number of controls.
  • Click on "Choose file" (depends on your computer system language) and select one file to upload.
  • Click on "Attach This File" to start uploading the file.
  • Click on the place within your text where you want the photo to appear.
  • Click on "Add to post" on the line showing the image you just uploaded. If you don't do that, the uploaded photos will be shown as "attachments" after the text of your post.
  • Add some spacing or some captions above or below each photo.
