MT0227 Posted February 23, 2016 Share #21  Posted February 23, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I really want to travel light, my go to...one lens...lightweight kit is my 35 FLE.  If you enjoy the rendering of your 35FLE as much as I enjoy mine, I'd look to save weight at a different focal lengths and build on either side of your 35mm.   Maybe the new 28mm Cron and (a) 50mm Cron or ( 75mm Summarit as a lightweight 2 Lens kit. I'm  not suggesting to do this all at once as opposed to having a plan to acquire some different tools before you double up on 2 similar ones.  Enjoy! Advertisement Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Hi MT0227, Take a look here 35 lux and cron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ELAN Posted February 23, 2016 Share #22  Posted February 23, 2016 My 35 FLE is the lightest/smallest lens I own and has the best ergonomics of all my lenses*. It's a joy to use. But its rendering in daylight, wide open, doesn't give me that Leica magic I'm used to. At night, however, I get great results with the 35 FLE.  I'm considering getting the the 35/2 in the hope that images will be more to my liking. The heavy chrome version - I like brass lenses. But now with the new 35/2 I will wait for the reviews before deciding.  * my other lenses: 28 Lux, 50 Lux asph, 90 APO
MT0227 Posted February 23, 2016 Share #23 Â Posted February 23, 2016 I've got the 21mm SEM; 35mm FLE; Â 50mm APO; 90mm APO. Â I can cover so much ground with my 35; its just such a versatile lens (for me) across most lighting conditions I've come across, day, night...whatever... It's what I grab to go quick. Â More targeted and planned shoots will have combinations of 2 of the 4 with the 21mm in the bag as #3 if I can't be without it.
mandelbrot Posted February 24, 2016 Author Share #24 Â Posted February 24, 2016 Thanks for the comments. I think the best configuration for me would be Summilux 35 asph fle as of today and Summicron 35 IV Germany.
Stein K S Posted February 27, 2016 Share #25 Â Posted February 27, 2016 Thanks for the comments. I think the best configuration for me would be Summilux 35 asph fle as of today and Summicron 35 IV Germany. Â Jepp, perfect combo in my opinion... perhaps with the Lux Pre-FLE instead of the FLE... And I happen to own both of them! Maybe not so much for size reasons, but for rendering differences (I do also love the size of the cron IV, but I can not say it is "neccessary"...). Very, very happy! Â And I could easily defend owning two 35s... (being a 35 guy I guess) ... regardless of owning other lenses or not... ;-) Â regards, Stein
IWC Doppel Posted February 27, 2016 Share #26  Posted February 27, 2016 I'd go for a summicron v4 it comes into its own with rendering from f2.8-5.6 especially f4 where it's sublime  At f2 there are no problems with sharpness corners a little soft, Center as good as any but the bokeh hasn't hit its magic yet and is a little distracting. The colouring is also superb  During the day I'd take this lens over any 35 (well nearly) and it's wonderful to use very quick to focus  Shoot a shot with the FLE at f4 and then the summicron and you can see why it's called the King of bokeh
otto.f Posted February 27, 2016 Share #27 Â Posted February 27, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the comments. I think the best configuration for me would be Summilux 35 asph fle as of today and Summicron 35 IV Germany. Â That's what I have too, and it is perfect. In practice I mostly have the 35cron IV on my MM and the FLE on my M9. Sometimes, when it's the other way around, I'm amazed by the sharpness of the FLE on the MM and by the colors of the IV on my M9.
