platypus Posted February 23, 2016 Author Share #21 Â Posted February 23, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Â As I've said before, it doesn't take much to spark my interest. Â Â I must admit to the same thing....it bores the tripe out of most people I know... Â This morning (well before their advertised closing time at noon) I finally did come across a Salsify flower, it was surprisingly small relative to the size of the Salsify puffball, only about the size of an average dandelion. I picked it and took it home, put it in water and a mere half an hour later, when I went back to take it's photograph, the darned thing had closed up tight. They must be very sensitive and rather shy.

platypus Posted March 5, 2016 Author Share #27  Posted March 5, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dave, well done locating this link, it appears to show the very same weed the only difference is that my NSW based Salsify has yellow flowers rather than purple. I was also interested to see that Salsify is apparently not yet gazetted as a weed in this state, which seems odd as our weed police are very keen.  .....does anyone but me ever wonder how we managed to do without the internet?
