jevidon Posted February 2, 2016 Share #1  Posted February 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) As a new T owner and a long time M9P owner, I considered buying the M lens adapter for the T and use my collection of manual M lenses. At the local Leica Boutique, I looked at and installed the M adapter and then the confusion started. So rather than recite the traumatic experience, I am simply asking how one sets up the Leica T menu to use the M lens adapter. My experienced Leica sales person wasn't sure and called Leica for instructions.  Following those instructions, the adapter worked after a fashion, but there was no exposure compensation display as others have noted, nor when I played back the image could I bring up EXIF data as on the M9P to show the lens, and the camera settings. The entire experience was unsatisfactory and very fiddly when it came to making adjustments of any kind.  So before I buy an M adapter for the T, can someone please tell me how to set up the menu so I can focus and utilize the TTL to adjust the exposure compensation and any other available functions, etc.

firststream Posted February 3, 2016 Share #4  Posted February 3, 2016 If I'm reading the query correctly, you want to have easy access to exposure compensation on either of the two adjusting dials. In Aperture priority mode, this can be done on the left dial (I use it for focus magnification). The right dial seems to only adjust ISO. Somebody may be able to show us how to adjust it for different purposes. It's ridiculous that we should not have the option to change our right dial needs in Aperture priority mode. I don't see the logic of freezing the right dial to ISO changes, when exposure compensation would be used more often, by more users.  Similarly, in Manual priority mode, the right dial sets only shutter-speed. I see the logic in that, as that's something always needed when shooting manual.  The downloadable instruction manual is frozen to the original firmware version of the T (typ701), which if you have been reading prior to your purchase, will confuse the issue. In the initial firmware, both the left and right dials were programmable, if memory serves.  Please Leica, update the manual! And please allow us to change the right dial options in Aperture Priority!!
Louis Posted February 3, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted February 3, 2016 Â Â Please Leica, update the manual! And please allow us to change the right dial options in Aperture Priority!! Â I completely agree in regards to the right dial! Â I am using non-Leica manual lenses and the right dial does NOT have any function for me; just a piece of decoration!... I wish I could use it to change ISO; or Exposure compensation; or anything else instead of nothing!... Â To have the right exposure for my photos, I also very badly need a "Focus Area", which is very badly missing!... Â The WIFI never worked for me with any of the existing firmwares, and I don't even care about it if I can't connect my IPhone to my camera when shooting in the streets (BTW, Panasonic did a great job with 109 WIFI !), but please, make the right dial to be used for something! Â Is anyone from "Leica" reading our requests and caring about us who bought this camera???? ....

 - WIFI still not working! - Still the right dial useless! (with my non-leica manual lenses) - The much needed exposure area is still not existenting! ...  Well ...  As I said before, I really don't care about WIFI. Also, I am getting used to the focus magnifier and don't really miss focus peaking! But, I would love to have an exposure area like with any other camera to get the right exposure; and, I would love to have the right dial doing something!...
