haribo Posted March 15, 2016 Share #61 Posted March 15, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Beautiful handbag, Harry. I'm looking forward to seeing your new camera bag (like I need another - maybe I can sell one of my less used bags to ThighSlapper; he won't notice, I'm sure) Thank you. I forgot to say, for the exterior of the handbag I used Horween Cavalier Chromexcel leather in Lollipop red. The interior is made from dark blue Italian goat leather. -Thanks. Peter Kilmister Posted March 15, 2016 Share #62 Posted March 15, 2016 @haribo, Good luck to you for making quality products and contacting the forum members interested in your kit. What would you use to soften cow leather that is a bit too stiff, if that's not a secret. I've always used saddle soap (leather conditioner) but maybe there is a simpler solution? haribo Posted March 16, 2016 Share #63 Posted March 16, 2016 @haribo, Good luck to you for making quality products and contacting the forum members interested in your kit. What would you use to soften cow leather that is a bit too stiff, if that's not a secret. I've always used saddle soap (leather conditioner) but maybe there is a simpler solution? Saddle soap is alright but it's more for cleaning and reconditioning. Leather will get softer but since you use it best with water the effect will go away once the leather is dry again. Btw, if you go for saddle soap use the white one. The more common yellow one might stain the leather. The degree of softness you might achieve depends of course on the leather itself. Veg tan, chrome, animal, shoulder, belly, how thick it is and other factors play a role. Generally speaking 'Time' is the best way to soften leather gently. Then again, waiting is not always an option. There are several options to soften leather but they do come with a problem. Thing is in most cases what makes the leather softer, makes it at the same time also a lot darker. If that is of no concern to you I would recommend something like Mink Oil Paste. On the other hand if you don't want to change the colour of your leather, here's a personal trick of mine: Vaseline. Vaseline is petroleum based. It won't make leather as soft as for instance Mink Oil Paste does but then again, it won't affect the leather's colour either. Hope this helps. Jed Orme Posted March 30, 2016 Share #64 Posted March 30, 2016 As further testament to the Harry Benz camera strap, I have discovered that he also goes that extra mile even after the strap has been made & put into the mail to you. In my case, he mailed me a B strap I ordered in late December on March 4th. But due to my likely delirious state, I managed to give him my correct street address & incorrect zip code (even tho off by only 2 numbers). So when it arrived in my city, the "neither sleet nor snow" USPS promptly returned it to him. He emailed me last night that it had arrived & that he has once again put it into the mail to me. However, even before determining that it wasn't lost in the mail, he had offered to start making me another one to replace it. Also, he just acted like it really mattered to him that I might not get it, which is much more than can be said for many folks once they have been paid for something you bought. Thank you Harry, & I look forward to getting & using your fine camera strap on my M.

Jed Orme Posted April 5, 2016 Share #66 Posted April 5, 2016 My Harry Benz B Strap finally survived its postal misadventures & found its way to my home today, & it is a beauty, well worth the wait, plus marvelous craftsmanship throughout. I am confident that this will be a solution to the ever-present state of tangled strap when using the stock one, & I am most surprised by the flexibility & suppleness of the Buffalo hide material used by Harry. So I look forward to the next outing when I can actually put it to the test, but am certain just from wandering around the house with it over my head or shoulder that it is more than up to the task. And thanks again Harry for your patience & assistance in helping sort out the problems created by my giving him my old, but very nearby, zip code. Here are some photos of the outer boxing, the inner packaging & how it looks on my particular M. Welcome, dear visitor! I'm so happy to see you a goofy as I am and about the HB strap....its just a camera strap... but there is something special about this one. What I like most is that there is nothing to it ...simply perfect design....and nothing more. I too walked around the house to check the fit and feel.....knowing that you did the same... I don't feel so silly. Who would have thought that Water- Buffalo hide was so soft Nice unboxing photos Jed!!

It's not a coincidence but by design. ;-) You are correct, it does look like there is nothing to it. But don't be fooled by that. It's the same as with sports. Top athletes work very hard on making things look easy.
