Using a tripod with M-P (240)?

I'm confused...what long list?  I am just trying to determine which one of the two plates (that screw on underneath) fit/work best with the M-P (240) and the existing RRS ballhead.  And I am trying to avoid camera bloat.

And I don't think that the accessories "make a photograph."  Just a better photograph, sometimes.  Or the ability to try some creative ideas, etc.  (I just saw a video of Eliot Erwitt taking photos and he's using a tripod.  Seems to help him get his results.)

I don't get your point...

??

As soon as RRS are mentioned on the forum there occurs a certain amount of fetishistic delight in reeling off endless part numbers and acronyms when as in your case you only need one bit. If you don't get my point that you only need a quick release plate setup instead of an brand new camera base clearly the bullshit has baffled you.

Yes, I got your point, profound as it was and at the same time, I noticed the horrible delivery of your message, so to speak.  Your condescending attitude was not necessary...I have 45 years of experience and I would believe I have some idea at this point, of what I'm talking about,  and also what I don't know.  That's why I posted on this forum...I started my own research on what to use and got conflicting opinions.   Not having a way to "try" something, I turned to this group to get their input about how they handled their similar setups since I admire and respect other people's experience and willingness to share.  Thankfully, some people responded with their helpful experience and suggestions.

Baffled...no.  Wanting help...yes.

I have no idea why you are so sensitive about RRS (or any other "attitudes").  Just seems weird to me.  And I'd hardly say I have a fetish about RRS or any other gear I use.

Thanks to all who responded!

I finally opted for the Peak Design clamp and it arrived yesterday.

Goes on the camera easily and securely and the RRS quick release clamp grabs and hold on well.  I did a little testing yesterday in the house last night and all seems well.
