Advertisement Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Hi Akaki, Take a look here corrosion ? MM 246. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 10, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2016 That looks most like dust - and a lot of it. First clean your sensor, then have another look.
Akaki Posted January 10, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted January 10, 2016 Thank you jaapv brand new MM 246, got it 3 mount ago
jaapv Posted January 10, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2016 Well, you can accumulate a lot of dust in that time, and given that a 246 will not show sensor corrosion, just clean it or have it cleaned.
250swb Posted January 11, 2016 Share #5 Posted January 11, 2016 It is a very, very, very dirty sensor. Sensors tend to get dirty most when the camera is new, it will slow, but regular cleaning is a must and something like an Arctic Butterfly brush is ideal. And it requires no skill or bravery to use. Belle123 Posted January 11, 2016 Share #6 Posted January 11, 2016 Is dust. Mine came that way from the factory. Very dirty. Still getting it so seems to be in the camera moving around.
Joshua Lowe Posted January 11, 2016 Share #7 Posted January 11, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use a Giottos Rocket blower once every week or two. It works very well. Just a few moderate squeezes of air from the blower usually clears all the dust.
otto.f Posted January 11, 2016 Share #8 Posted January 11, 2016 With that amount of dust I would suck and not blow. For normal maintenance the Rocket Blower is my companion too But why not go back to your dealer with it, quite a price you paid
250swb Posted January 12, 2016 Share #9 Posted January 12, 2016 And while the dealer can clean it for you it's going to need doing again, and again, and again, and again........... So the OP should put themselves in charge of dust as soon as possible. Steve

For normal maintenance the Rocket Blower is my companion too But why not go back to your dealer with it, quite a price you paid In my case, living remotely, going back to the dealer each time needed cleaning would be a 4 hour round trip! I did complain to them, however. The Rocket blower works great.
otto.f Posted January 12, 2016 Share #11 Posted January 12, 2016 The Rocket blower works great. As long as this is sufficient, don't touch the sensor with anything else

serdor Posted January 13, 2016 Share #13 Posted January 13, 2016 The MM 246 has a CMOS sensor .Cases of corrosion there are none yet , and should not occur on this model. What you see is just dust .
Akaki Posted January 20, 2016 Author Share #14 Posted January 20, 2016 Thank you, yesterday I went to Leica store and they clean sensor. 4 hours for cleaning, they say. Now no one piece of dust Yes, they say this model of sensor has no corrosion.
albireo_double Posted January 20, 2016 Share #15 Posted January 20, 2016 Dust and potentially shutter lubricant drops. Blow with a Giottos rocket or similar first. If there are any oil drops (won't go away by blowing), wet clean using the Eclipse solution on sensor swabs. Dirt on sensor is not unusual - in fact it is typical for new Leicas, unfortunately. I've had to wet clean them all within weeks or days of buying them, incl. the S bodies, the M240/M246 and the M9s before...I've never experienced the problem at this level with any other camera brand (bought a heavily discounted new old stock Nikon D4 today...checked the sensor first thing after unpacking - it is pristine). Bottom line - learn to wet clean the sensor yourself, otherwise you'll be running to the dealer all the time. In my experience, the problem will gradually diminish after the first six months of using the camera, probably as all the loose bits, dirt, flakes of paint and excess lubricant get released and cleaned away.
