}{B Posted January 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Although the sensor of my new M-E is still dust free I'm looking ahead to the time I have to clean it and I've the seen the above sensor cleaning brush at a sale price. It is described as type SL788 1.6 and I understand that it is suitable for a crop sensor but would not cover all of a full frame sensor in one sweep. Is it still worth getting? If not which Arctic Butterfly brush is correct for the M-E? Any assistance from Butterfly users gratefully accepted.

jaapv Posted January 6, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2016 Personally I prefer to use one size smaller of any cleaning system, it is easier to get the edges and corners. YMMV. Anyway, do read the Sensor Cleaning protocol in the FAQ at the top of the forum. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/125097-leica-m8-m82-m9-m9p-mm-mtyp240-faqs-questions-with-answers/?p=1376034
}{B Posted January 6, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted January 6, 2016 Thanks for the reply. Thinking about it I can see the logic in getting the smaller size and so I've ordered it and it should arrive tomorrow. Let's hope it is some time yet before I need to use it. 250swb Posted January 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2016 I use the 724 because it is smaller than the sensor area, it helps get into the corners. If your camera is brand new and never been cleaned before be careful you don't contaminate the brush with any oil the shutter has thrown off, although hopefully Leica have cured this by now. I recommend a wet clean as the very first clean, then use the Arctic Butterfly as an everyday maintenance cleaner until you need another wet clean. I don't have any wet cleaning materials yet but I'll be looking to get some before too long.
microview Posted January 9, 2016 Share #6 Posted January 9, 2016 Thanks for the advice. I don't have any wet cleaning materials yet but I'll be looking to get some before too long. I'd suggest the Green Clean packs of wet and dry sticks. Don't waste money on their vacuum canister system though.
