AGeoJO Posted June 19, 2007 Share #41 Posted June 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My favorite lenses on M8 (in descending order): 50mm Summilux, 28mm Summicron and 75mm Summicron. I used Contax G system back then and only for a short period using an M6 to be able to establish any preference.
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Hi AGeoJO, Take a look here Your favorite focal length (on M8, on film). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
James Mitchell Posted June 19, 2007 Share #42 Posted June 19, 2007 On M8: 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 90mm. On film: 21mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm. Not a lot of difference.
carstenw Posted June 19, 2007 Share #43 Posted June 19, 2007 What 85mm lens do you have, James? Is that an old Hektor or something?
Photoskeptic Posted June 19, 2007 Share #44 Posted June 19, 2007 What can I say? I'm a fiftie's kinda guy.
luigi bertolotti Posted June 19, 2007 Share #45 Posted June 19, 2007 What 85mm lens do you have, James? Is that an old Hektor or something? Hey, Carsten, don't joke with the sacred Leitz lens names : there isn't an 85 Hektor... 85 is the Summarex 1,5, one of the lenses in my heart ! There was an almost as fascinating Hektor, but was 73 1,9, two versions blah blah.....
blakley Posted June 20, 2007 Share #46 Posted June 20, 2007 Bob, the 50/1.2 Asph is probably one of my most desired lenses. Do you have some results to show? I have the feeling that this lens comes closer to the 80 Lux-R on FF than anything else for the M8. Carsten, it's a wonderful lens; expensive, but well worth it. This link leads to a slideshow of some of my photos with this lens on flickr.
DaveSee Posted June 20, 2007 Share #47 Posted June 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8: all good (15-90), except... ...M4/6: Contax Biogon 21/4,5... refuses to be digital, heh. We're having too much fun to pick a favored! Although the Biogon's "21" wipes the floor despite its age... hoping, but no: the CV 15 on the M8 is immature, visually... yet thankful for film! rgds, Dave
MP3 Posted June 20, 2007 Share #48 Posted June 20, 2007 In descending order, more and more I prefer earlier Leitz glass. On film: 50 Lux v2, 35 Cron v4, 21SA3.4, 75 Cron, 90 Tele-Elmarit On M8: 35 Cron v4, 28 Cron, 21SA3.4, 50 Lux v2, 75 Lux, 90 Tele-Elmarit It is in fact quite hard to choose between the 75 Lux and 75AA =) A real draw !! Yes, don't ever forget the great cv15 for m8.
vic vic Posted June 20, 2007 Share #49 Posted June 20, 2007 my fave is 50 mm on m film camera .... during you talks about lenses: you want to do something good and valuable with your m8, besides talking techs? take a look and contribute here with your cameras. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/26874-edward-burtynskys-photos.html it is more important and more "leica spirit" and more photographic than talking techs

Focus is good... even if I do not dare to try 1,5... ...but surely at 2,8 still focuses rather good
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
