Advertisement Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Hi Thisisasticup, Take a look here Upgrading to the Q. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
zcarsten Posted December 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2015 I had previously the X2 and now the Q :-). You should simple sell both. If you will have 35mm you simple can crop the image. IQ with the Q is fantastic as well as build quality.
TK! Posted December 31, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2015 I am from the X1 (love it), X2 (bugfixed X1), and X. Looking back the X somehow was a disappointment. It did not offer much more than X2 and was bigger. I'll try to sell it. I will keep the X2. I do not expect to get much money for it. Moreover the X2 is much much smaller than the Q. The Q itself is just fantastic... - TK
jlindstrom Posted December 31, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2015 You could sell both as you won't lose anything compared to Q. A crop 35 in Q equals the X-series in pixels and is otherwisw better. If you were to keep on, I'd keep the X2 strictly because of it's size. And X113 will get you more money when sold or part-ex. Photon42 Posted December 31, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2015 sell both - as being said, you can always crop the Q. If you absolutely feel the need of a really small and capable camera with or without eye-level finder, check the Sony RX100 series out. The RX100 is still being sold new and very useful. The Mk III and IV have got an eye-level EVF built in. Nice add-on.
ropo54 Posted December 31, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 31, 2015 I would add: the jpegs out of the camera from the X series are excellent, so if post processing is an issue that might warrant keeping the X series. The Sony RX 100 is quite capable and easy to use. For me, it was much easier than the D Lux 109 with its menu system.
lucerne Posted December 31, 2015 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) This thread starts in the Q section so presumably he's decided on a Q and just needs to rationalise his existing kit. My experience of adding kit to my collection is that eventually I don't use what I already owned and gradually it becomes so out of date that it's difficult to sell. The Q is a quantum leap away from previous models, so unless the OP really wants to keep collecting examples of Leica's progress, or enjoys sometimes using rangefinders if he had those, is there any point in keeping them? Maybe for the ability to select an alternative focal length and that could be a valid reason. My mantra is to avoid maintaining multiple types of batteries, filter sizes, software for processing, etc. It makes decision making easier, and becoming familiar with the 28mm lens on the Q will happen quicker.
