Advertisement Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi sblutter, Take a look here Which 90mm?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Echo63 Posted January 11, 2016 Share #22  Posted January 11, 2016 I have been pretty happy with my (new to me) 90mm f4 M Rokkor its small, light and sharp, and best of all its Cheap ! i paid just over $300 AUD to get mine, on Ebay from Japan (including shipping) I would call its condition "Excellent" virtually no signs of use at all, aside from a slight yellowing of the white engravings on the body of the lens. even the collapsible rubber hood is perfect (and conveniently has a 52mm filter thread on the end, which perfectly matches my polariser) Just used it at a gig tonight, and it was perfect - the two pics with blue backgrounds in the article linked below are from the M240/MRokkor combo (the other gig pics are from a 1DX + either a 24-70 or 70-200) https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/entertainment/a/30545632/hometown-hero-troye-sends-fans-wild/
John Z. Goriup Posted January 12, 2016 Share #23  Posted January 12, 2016 I bought the first 90mm ff2.0 Summicron M Apo / Asph. sold in California, and thought it was a magnificent lens until I picked up a really clean, chrome Elmarit-M f2.8 with the built-in hood. Since I first took the f2.0 out of its box, I've always thought it was too big, long and heavy, and have never stopped searching for a more 'user-friendly', high-quality alternative that would completely satisfy what I was looking for in this focal length………the Elamrit-M certainly does it for me.  I found the Elmarit smoother, less clinical, not as high in contrast, nor as harsh,  and importantly, much lighter, smaller and handier to use, and with much less intrusion into the viewfinder, to the extent that nowadays I use the Elmarit exclusively.  I love its  character, how it renders, the bokeh and the image quality. Perhaps on the SL the Summicron may come into its own ( size-wise and in respect to balance ), which is why I'm keeping it, but until then, it'll stay in its box.  JZG
bencoyote Posted January 13, 2016 Share #24  Posted January 13, 2016 The anwser to your questions depends on what is your goal: portrait, travel, landscape etc.  I started with le Elmarit, changed to the Apo-Summicron (excellent but havy) and owned also a Macro-Elmar. So I travel with the Macro-Elmar. This lens is outstanding. For Lanscape, Architecture and travel, sometimes Street. For Landscape, Nature or portraits I prefer the Apo-Summicron with 1.4 Magnifier.  Which 1.4 magnifier do you use?

sblitz Posted January 17, 2016 Share #26 Â Posted January 17, 2016 Elmarit M is a wonderful lens but I just swapped it for a summicron pre apo because I needed the extra stop, I shoot a lot at jazz clubs. So far it is wonderful, you can see some in the people thread in photo forum. It does have a look closer to me 75mm summicron which I love
