John Palamaro Posted December 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) While I can understand the concept of image stabilization, my gut still screams 'smoke and mirrors'. I know, I know, I'm incorrect. I'm assuming that since there is no (did I miss this somewhere) lens IS, that it's all in the 'Q 'body'. Who uses it and when? Yes, I know the 'suggested uses' when, but I keep mine off. I have been plagued in the past with other camera systems where it has bit me in the butt with some blurriness, both with lens and camera stabilization. Using the 'rule of thumb' shutter speed of not less than the focal length any of the knowledgeable who can shed some additional information on the Q would be appreciated. Mr.Q Posted December 19, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2015 I turn on OIS whenever I'm forced to shoot over ISO 6400 and/or below 1/15s.
Big T Posted December 19, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2015 I use it when "macro" shooting. Otherwise it is off.
goodrich62 Posted December 20, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2015 Per Leica it is mainly there for video. I got the Q as a still camera. I may turn it on if I shoot video but so far no. I shoot mainly M or A and use Auto ISO if I think I can't stay within the ISO limit I set I'll either change the A or not try the shot if slower then 1/
