Auctioned by RM Sotheby's in New York a few days ago, Joplin's Porsche sold at a rather high price.  One of her band's roadies painted it originally much as you see it here, and through photos, the previous owner restored it to that state.

Ironic that her lyrics go, "Lord won't you by me a Mercedes Benz.  My Friends all have Porsches, I must make amends."

Indeed, very wonderfull.

Porsche should have painted a replica for their museum at the headquarters at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.

The original exemplar might be much too expensive for those frugal Swabians. ;)

My first album, that I played to death, was Cheap Thrills.

Beautiful car, great album cover....oh! the nostalgia.

Interesting to see a Reg Mombassa/Mambo-classic-look-alike dude, with his halo and third eye, on the bottom left corner of

the album cover.....graphics by R. Crumb and the album released in 1968....Reg ripped-off, or the inspiration for it all.....?

Jee, I'm dreaming of a M2 in this painting!

That is a fu..ing great idea.

I'm looking for a grungy M2 and paint it.

J. Joplin and the Holding company, late 60th flowerpower or in R. Crumb style?

Hm. Maybe I strip the camera a use a kind of enamel colours.
