steve70 Posted December 14, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Am I missing something here, or is thereno capability of shooting B&W JPG & RAW ? I like to shoot a lot in B&W, but like the idea of having color RAW files. The M20 has that capability as well as my D-Lux, but I can not see it on the Q, what gives? steve70 Posted December 14, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted December 14, 2015 Thanks, I figured that it would be the same tye menu as my M240 whre there is an actual "Film mode" I sent the camera back to the dealer anyway, not happy with it. Just picked up another M240 body and put my 24 f1.4 on it and it will stay on it pretty much permanantelly and use the other M240 with my other lenses. Thanks again
ricky1981 Posted December 14, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 14, 2015 You have to set the saturation to monochrome, there isn't an explicit setting for it The B&W jpgs are actually very good IMO, much much better than the color jpgs which are pretty awful. Thankfully the RAW files are fantastic!
harbelot Posted December 15, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 15, 2015 The color jpg are indeed really crappy, almost useless in my opinion.
Honk Posted December 16, 2015 Share #7 Posted December 16, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've actually read a lot about how bad the quality of the color jps should be. The Leica Q is my first camera where I use the ooc jpgs most of the time. Almost everyone who saw this jpgs said that they love the colors and the contrasts. I think the look is polarizing but the quality is not as bad as a few people say

AndreasB Posted December 16, 2015 Share #9 Posted December 16, 2015 Hi Honk, If one would like to have a special look, one may be happy with the colour ooc-jpegs from the Q. But if someone likes colour ooc-jpegs close to reality the Q is one of the worse cameras available in my opinion. That was for me the reason to sell the Q and buy a used X2 for the time till Photokina 2016. BUT: The Raws, the handling and the quality of the Q are amazing. For me its a perfect camera exept the ooc- colour-jpegs. I hope for a x113 with EVF and same jpeg quality as the actual x113.
Honk Posted December 16, 2015 Share #10 Posted December 16, 2015 Steve Huff agrees wth you about the Leica jpegs, though advises to always shoot RAW. (Watch his video comparing the new Sony RX 1 model to the Q which is posted on his site). I know the video and do always use RAW files. Also with the Q I do so and process them in CaptureOne. But for me this is the first time I would give away ooc jpgs (for first glance) instead of processed RAWs. For me the look of a picture do not have to be realistic or something like that since a picture cant really reflect reallity. But right, If this is ones requirement to the ooc jpg, the Q isn't the right camera.
