I'm just fiddling with the resistors to see if I can get it back in action. Is there anyone who's got any tips about how to balance out the overall vs linear resistors... or is it a case of keep twiddling until it's right? Thanks! TomB_tx Posted December 11, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2015 CdS cells tend to go non-linear with age and lose high resistance in low light. Typically as this happens you can adjust to be OK in brighter light, but low light will underexpose because the cell max resistance (no light) is too low. This is basically less dynamic range of measurement. This happened on my Leicaflex SL, and luckily DAG still had replacement cells for it, and replaced and recalibrated it. I don't know if DAG or Sherry might have any cells for an M5. Luckily my M5 is still pretty good. More recent cameras don't use CdS cells, so won't have this problem; but will probably not last as long for other reasons. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
