MarkP Posted March 18, 2017 Share #21 Posted March 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Their new dome does colour and flash, but is much larger than the original one I have. The new dome also connects via the iPhone 6-pin connector rather than the now-obselete 3.5mm headphone jack. I'm still on an iPhone 6 so my old Lumu dome is just fine. B&H just now has/had a clearance sale on the old Lumu domes so I bought two more - spare for me and a gift for a friend.

zarezaza Posted March 18, 2017 Share #22 Posted March 18, 2017 Hi! I use mylightmeter & lightmate. It's free and accurate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Martin B Posted March 19, 2017 Share #23 Posted March 19, 2017 Reading this with interest even I never owned an iPhone, so therefore all these nice iPhone apps don't work on my Android based phone. On my Android, I am using currently predominantly an app called "LightMeter" (free version) and as second choice "beeCamLightMeter". I get pretty accurate numbers from them. wlaidlaw Posted March 22, 2017 Share #24 Posted March 22, 2017 I use the Cine-Meter app, which is OK both for still and cine use, if you have calibrated it very carefully but probably rather deluges you with unnecessary information for most purposes. However, for me I feel there is something that does not quite gel with using my iPhone to meter for a classic film camera. I mainly use the two in the photo below plus the MR-4 semi coupled CdS meter, that has been on my M4 since virtually new (I think I bought it in 1968, one year after getting the M4). The Weston Master V is a recent acquisition from the ultimate Weston guru, Ian Partridge, totally refurbished to as new condition with a new selenium cell. It all adds to the pleasure of the process of using film. The little Metraphot 3, which is identical to a Leicameter 2, is OK for black and white but not really accurate enough for colour reversal. Its selenium cell is a bit tired and I have to offset the film speed by 1 EV. Sadly there are no spare selenium cells available for these tiny meters, the last being sold by Metrawatt in around 2010. They use a custom cell, which had its glass substrate cut to size by Metrawatt and then coated afterwards, so none of the new alternatives will fit. You cannot cut an existing cell to fit, as that will kill it. The other little meter I have is the modern shoe meter, theVoigtlander VCII, which is super easy to use, small, neat and very accurate.
