pblandino Posted December 6, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last week I stupidly dropped my new Q, while fumbling with my gloves in subzero temperatures. The camera sustained a little bruising on the back in a couple of places and the knurled thumb knob doesn't turn as smoothly as it did before but the camera otherwise works flawlessly. I've noted , however, that if I move the camera back and forth in my hand either while it's on or off there is a feeling like something heavy is shifting inside. This is very subtle and I'm left to wonder if it always did this or if this is new since I dropped the camera. I'm aware of the optical stabilization issue, where there is a faint clicking sound when the camera is shaken lightly while off. This is not that issue. Can someone try and shake their undropped Q lightly while on and tell me if there's a subtle thunk from inside the camera? Thanks in advance! And, though I'm not sure if it's applicable in this case, I always have an additional insurance policy for my camera equipment. It's pretty cheap. Bear in mind that if you paid/part paid by credit card, you may be able to claim the cost of repair from the card company. Worth checking your T&C's. But if the lens did not get any harm, then everything else can be fixed. I would also recommend to send it to Leica. I once dropped my Canon 5D MKII and since then it has a Guffar Tape to cover the cracked body. But it works very well, the lens was protected by ist metal hood. But since then I use a solid Sun Sniper or Black Rapid Strap and never let it off the camera. I wish you to get your camera back soon!! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
